Hi All

I wasn't a fan of the under seat storage system when I bought my '24 so after a bit of
'trying it out' it's time for it to come out...

Just pulled it out and the studs protrude above the carpet level and obviously the side piece where my odd's n ends are stored needs to be installed.

Has anyone done this before and can point me to the part number for the divider and how they dealt with the studs?

Cheers

Studs or bolts you can get to on bottom of body?

Many would love that system you can probably sell it. I have generic storage bin full of stuff there.

To get studs out, screw 2 nuts onto the threads, tighten them to each other and then back the whole thing out with the 'lower' nut. As it's locked to the 'upper' nut you're now able to back the stud out.

Instead of using the Ford divider, consider using the Builtright divider. It at least lets you mount items onto it and looks a heck lot sturdier.

When I ordered my 2024 502, the storage system under the rear seat was one of those items that I would have preferred not to have on my truck. I didn't have the truck a week when I started using it all the time. I've made a couple of long cross-country trips and it has been a life saver because it locks. Have you used that feature? It has saved me a lot of time and effort by not having to haul items up to my hotel room. It also reduces my concern when I make stops because valuables are locked and out of sight.

Agree 100%! The only reason I don’t use it more at the moment is that every weekend I take my dog on hikes, and therefore install my “puppy protection system” which keeps the back seat area protected from paws and claws, which therefore means I fold the back seat up.

I took mine out of my ’23. the studs are really Torx screws , easily removed by double nutting them to loosen them up, then screw them down and they will drop out the bottom under the truck.
the driver side ones are over the fuel tank so you have to reach up in there to feel them.
its not hard. but the pass side are easy to see/ feel and remove

once out I put short screws in from the top to plug the holes.

Also, if you wish to reverse all this and re-install the storage box, just run the original bolts down from the top.

Thanks everyone for the replies...

So I went to the dealer yesterday to find out more about the bolts and found that yes, they are torque bolts accessed from underneath, and got a hold of the part number for the replacement piece across the back (FL3Z 16310B17 BB) and bolts (W708924 S451) to install it for my existing storage...

Yes, I get that plenty of people will find it incredibly useful, but I found that for me when it was up it was getting kicked/knocked by passengers getting in and out and it has spent the entire time of ownership down and closed as I don't use it at all....

I tend to put my golf clubs in the back (on those rare days I get time) and as a builder I often times need to put items that I don't want in the bed with my tools in the back also. I really preferred the flat floor of my '21.

The last straw for me was when I was in a rush one day and put my towball under the seat without thinking it would slide and sure enough I heard it as it hit the door...

I've ordered the parts from Ford and will make up some rubber blocks to fill the holes... A couple of new mats and I can have it the way I prefer and can easily change it back later for resale...

Appreciate all the help/feedback...

Cheers

That's one of the first things I did when I got my '24 KR home. I still had a full rubber mat from a prior F150 I used to cover over the bolts and carpet holes. I screwed the bolts from removing the storage back on the studs so I would be able to reinstall the box when I sell the truck. I then cut a 1/2" piece of plywood to size, sanded and painted it black and used a spacer block and bolts to secure it to existing seat hardware to recreate a divider to regain the storage I had with my prior model F150 without the storage box. I made the spacer block just the right size so the 1/2" strip of plywood would meet the larger rubber mat. I stopped the plywood strip short of the axuilary battery below the rear seat.

That's one of the first things I removed from my 24 KR when I got it home. Removed the box and put the bolts back on the studs to be used when I reinstalled the box when selling the truck. I had a full floor mat left from a prior F150 and used it to cover the studs and carpet holes. Then cut a 1/2" strip of plywood the width of the back (stopping before the auxiliary battery), sanded and pained it black. Then used some spacer blocks and 3 bolts to attach the plywood to the seat hardware to bring the retaining strip to the edge of the floor mat. Ended up with the small storage area I used to have with my prior model trucks that didn't have that unwanted storage box.

If I traveled long distances more often, or if I worked out of my truck, I could see this option being great. But for me, I find the small under-seat storage is plenty for the few things I always keep with me (ratchet straps, jumper cables, etc.). For anything else, a big flat floor is more valuable. One of the reasons I looked for a leftover 23 over a 24.

If you want to keep the nuts/bolts in place, you can double nut to drive the bolts down, unscrew the nuts, put a little bit of blue loctite onto the top of the bolt and put its nut back on properly and just drive them down with the bolt flush to the nut and just tighten it to the floor while covering them with a rubber cap. The carpet is quite thick so get creative and use a full-sized floor mat to cover them. Then you won't have any loose nuts/bolts to keep track of.

Would anyone who doesn't have the underseat storage be able to post a photo of the divider at the rear please?

This is the Ford part and I just want to ensure I have the right one...
