If they do it, you will have to make some FORScan changes to turn it on. Easy enough to do. The thing is, the IPMA has nothing to do with the battery and that update takes 3 hours assuming no complications. I would not have high hopes that they actually do it, but you can try.
Thanks for the reply. I'm going to take a stab at it on May 1st when I drop off the truck. They will have it all day so maybe I will get lucky. I doubt it but maybe.

I also had the power steering control module updated, I don't know if that was part of it. I have been upfront with the dealer about what I am trying to achieve. They were fine with doing it and just wanted to make me understand that it may not do what I want for my $200. If you are under warranty I would try to get them to do all the software updates available. My lane centering and adaptive cruise work way better now. Even if I hadn't gotten turn signal views and hitch assist working, that would have been worth it.

The PSCM and IPMA are tied to each other. You can't update one and not update the other.

HA! Can I ask you this just for clarification?
  1. It would be impossible to update one without updating the other due to the way Ford updates them (they are tied together).
  2. Or some tech could update one without the other just because they may not know they need to update them both.
Method number 1 is "idiot proof" even though that term is not really possible.
Method number 2 requires the tech to have some knowledge and he/she could theoretically update one and not the other.

NOTE: I spent 30 years in large manufacturing facilities, and I tell you just when you think you have something or some process idiot proof, they start building better idiots, so you never actually get there. :)

I guess once one module is done, you can close FDRS without doing the other one, but that would not be very wise and I doubt anyone would attempt that at the dealership level. I'm sire it would cause all kinds of codes to pop up.

I was lucky enough to have the dealer update my software with 7.xx with the last visit and successfully enabled this with FORScan. My question is, can function without a trailer hooked up? My Honda minivan has this and it’s nice to see the passenger side camera view. My guess is I could trick it to think a trailer is hooked up, but then I would loose BC.

I successfully added trailer side view to my '21 J1 XLT HDPP using FDRS and one of the Mongoose cables @rugedraw so graciously lends out.

It's impressive. It works whenever the blinker is on, whether temporary for lane change or engaged for a corner turn. It returns to the previous screen when the blinker turns off but I've seen it stay on the 360 view after the turn view. I haven't determined the conditions for that event.

The bottom pic is the hard-wired Ford trailer camera. It doesn't have IR lighting like the Furrion it will replace but I have bright LED backup lights.

W/ left blinker on in storage lot

Did just apply available updates to your truck with FDRS and enabled with Forscan? or did you had to do something extra like using 2023 files? I have 2021 F150 and would love to get side view added.

The newer IPMA files are available with FDRS now, but you need the Mongoose cable to do it. He borrowed one of mine. Details are in the mongoose loaner thread in my signature.

I updated my truck in mid March with FDRS, must have done it too early since side view is in my option menu just can not enable it after Forscan change.

As rugedraw said, I just used FDRS, having paid for a 2-day license.

The '23 files previously available to '21s only by side-loading (or other approaches) are now available for installation with FDRS through normal processes. I think it will eventually be applied by OTA but nobody knows when that will happen.

The IPMA/PSCM updates have been in FDRS since late last year. I see you posted your VIN before and checked and you are not showing an IPMA update available, so you must have done it. Double check the changes you made. Did you reset the IPMA with FORScan after you made the changes?

I will double check my settings and make sure to reset the IPMA, thank you for confirming that truck is up to date :)

Ok, need help :)
I double checked my settings. Restarted IPMA & APIM, but still not able to enable it in the menu with trailer connected (its grayed out).
I did noticed that when I write "3" in IPMA (706-01-02) it keeps getting reset back to 0 when I re-read module after writing it. Is that normal?

So, I have a 2023 XLT with most of the toys - 302A, Max Towing, newly added power fold mirrors (doing a write-up on that that I hope will be very comprehensive and useful to the community), Co-Pilot 360 Assist 2.0, 360-Degree cameras...

I've read this thread with interest, since it seems it ought to be a breeze for me, with a 2023, to get the turn signal cameras working as long as I have a trailer atached, but I'd like to have it work all the time, i.e., with or without a trailer, and I'd like to not lose BLIS, cross traffic alerts, and lane centering, which are the things the forums say you lose, but I seem to get conflicting info when I read what Ford says about trailering (they claim BLIS actually extends to the end of 'normal' length trailers and say cross traffic alerts work as well).

Any real world experience and/or info on what I lose, if anything? There is another forum that discusses making this work w/o a trailer, but you need to make the truck think it really has a trailer and, again, some stuff seems to go away. Also, even with a very minimal trailer defined, does the transmission work the same or differently, shifting-wise?

Thanks in advance.
