I get to see how good the Ford warranty experience is. I bought my new 2025 F150 on Monday, and this morning it left me stuck in a parking lot. The transmission started upshifting and downshifting violently hard, like I was getting rear-ended. Felt like the wheels were locking up, and I could hear a loud whirl after each slammed shift. I pulled over in a parking lot and called Ford roadside to get it towed to the dealership.

I guess I drew the short straw on this purchase... Oh well, at least it left me stranded in a parking lot with a good coffee shop.

Very sorry to hear this. Hopefully it get's fixed quickly. My 2025 F-150 XL is scheduled for delivery next week. I've been reading that the 10R80 trans issues have been resolved. Obveously they haven't been.
I'd like to know how this is resolved for you.

Thanks.

Every new vehicle I have owned has had its issues within the first 10k miles and then they are fine after that. Even a 2001 Toyota Tundra I bought new had issues within the first 10k .

On our job site one year the rental company gave us brand new Flagro heaters for temporary heat when every other year we would get the older 2-3 year old heaters. That year we had more issues with those new heaters then we ever had with the old ones.

Reach out to Ford corporate. They can help you as well with some compensation for your time away from your truck. Like a free PremiumCare or Maintenance Plan.

Yeah I might do that after I speak to the dealership tomorrow. I know bad luck happens, and that's all this is. I really like the truck and want to keep it for a long time.

You have to ask when you call though. I had my transmission replaced at 12k miles and it acted up again last month.

the first time it was replaced I asked ford what they could offer to help, but noted that the dealership was doing a great job - and I was offered PremiumCare for free.

this last time I got a 2-3yesr maintenance plan for free.

so while the truck hasn’t been great, at least ford is stepping up.

i cannot believe how myopic ford has been in destroying yheir brand reputaion.

the ONLY thing saving them is that seemingly all the other manufactures have forgotten how to make vehicles too.

GM with the stop sell on the 6.2, toyota on the 3.5L self destruct issue, Stellanis always being stellanis…

i mean this would be prime time for GM and Toyota to take market share from Ford, and we have seen some slide, but if the others were not failing too ford would be in a world of hurt. and that sucks as a brand loyalist.

While it sucks for the OP and I hate to see it, it doesn't mean they haven't resolved issues. Lots of us have 24's with no issues. This is the problem with forums and Facebook. One issue reported and everyone freaks out lol. It's why I stopped reading leading up to my purchase because everything seemed like a problem. Everyone just comes online with their complaints and very few posts with positive praise are spread the same way.

This was still going on with the 6R80, the 4R75E when they were new

OP, hopefully they get you taken care of and you'll have many thousands of trouble free miles ahead.

I agree with you. It would be nice to hear more good experiences.

IMO that's a good attitude / perspective. Hopefully a reasonably quick and permanent resolution comes your way followed by many miles of satisfaction. (y)

Forums just don't attract many good-news stories, most folks don't bother to post unless they've got a gripe or problem. Even though those posts seem overwhelming on a forum, they in fact represent a tiny fraction of total ownership. The deafening silence of many thousands of owners is the best evidence of majority good experiences.

Good-News Post: Now 36-months in I'm still absolutely loving my trouble-free 2022 Lariat! :)

Knock on wood, my 2025 XL have been perfect so far, 2500 miles, just had it's first oil change at 2000 miles. I really like it, but I do expect to have to deal with at least some minor flaws. All new cars usually do in my experience, as long as it's not something critical I'm ok with that.

A trans would be a little outside that, but hopefully they hooked you up with a free rental etc.

Last new vehicle I had got some door lock issues, and a warped cowl cover. After warranty ran out I got one failed injector, one window mechanism that broke, the cables and plastic part, and a cable for the DVD screen. Not too bad in 9 years, still ran like a champ in perfect working order when I sold it for the XL.

Cmon guys, there’s a half a million of these things sold annually , your going to have some beer 30 built trucks in every brand, 1 truck with a failed transmission nearly new just indicates that it was the unfortunate beer 30 built truck, not a common problem.

I know GM has had huge problems with their 6.2 I didn't know it has gone to a stop sell, that's frigging bad. Like mentioned above, I have had Ford step up and give me extended service plans, I also got 10K trade assist to get out of my 2023 Lariat F-150 in to my now 2025 King Ranch F-150. It seems like all the Auto Manufacturers have problems these days, I did come across a consumer reviews program on vehicles last night, the Ford F-150 with the 5.0 Litre was rated the highest and most reliable vehicle, mine is a Powerboost, I'm wondering if I'm going to regret getting a Powerboost again.

Just curious, do you have a power boost? Best of luck with your repairs. Hopefully, this will be the last of the troubles.

I didn’t think about asking for trade assist. I may go that route the next time the truck acts up.
