Has anyone noticed thin paint all over their truck? I’ve had my 2022 Iconic Silver nearly a year and with a recent job change I just now started driving it more and I park it where I can see it all day and noticed the light brown primer showing through in certain places as well as “stripes” from the paint gun going across the front fenders. It’s going into the dealer this week for them to take a look at it but I’m not getting any hopes up of anything happening fast. I guess this is what I get for looking too closely.. I know some of the pictures look like it’s dirty in the crease but it’s wiped clean and that’s the issue I’m dealing with. Has anyone had any luck with a dealer or Ford correcting the issue in any way? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yikes, looks like they might’ve had robot issues when they painted your truck. That’s a lot of thin paint. I’m not sure id trust any dealer to repaint that, it’s gonna be damn near a total repaint.

Good luck. Silver is hard to match too. I would push for a full, tear down, repaint.

ford set aside something like $2B for warranty claims. So I would guess they are just approving everything to win back some customers.

I know my truck has lots of issues and continues to have them…ford did give me a free PremiumCare for 5/75k, which was nice.

the total lack of quality speaks to both management and the employees just not giving a shit. And to me that is sad. American workers building trucks for Americans to get to work, drive their families around safely, and the workers seemingly cannot be bothered to produce a quality product.

Irritating.

I feel your pain I've had paint issues over the last 10 years for all my new Fords. Things started getting really bad with my 2016 mustang and it seems to be getting worse. I will admit my 2021 f150 has got a better paint job than my vehicles in the past. Even got the hinge area is painted this time.

Did your mustang have the flaking paint on the hood?

The '16 didn't but my 2014 did. The 2016 was a special order in 2015 and I think they had solved that problem by then but I'm not sure.

My black 2017 was a buyback for thin paint and bleeding transmission. The primer was really noticeable through black too. I wish I wasn't so "blind" to it before I bought it.

If you do go the buy back route, even though you want to yell and point fingers, don't. It's not their fault and you want them to bat for you. Your pics show an obvious issue, express why repainting isn't an option and every time I wash it, drive it, look at it, you see it everywhere.

Sorry for your woes man, I've been there and it's no fun to deal with.

I’m not sure that they fixed that issue. The metal finishers were using sandpaper to sand steel panels and using the same sandpaper to sand aluminum panels (the hood is aluminum). When you do that, the steel is impregnated in the aluminum and causes galvanic corrosion in the aluminum. I’d be shocked if they finally moved away from that even now

Agreed, that’s on the assembly plant. I’ve seen entire vehicles repainted under warranty before, it’s never pretty and frankly isn’t fair to the customer

A buyback would be ideal but I’m concerned the mileage will hold them up on that. It just rolled over 18k yesterday. I’m going to point out other issues as well and hopefully they’ll lean that way. I’ve got a driver door that will not stop rattling and the rearend is clunking (which there is a TSB to replace and grease the u-bolts). Did they just turn around and order basically the same truck again for you?

Most often than not 12 months 12k miles is the cutoff for cosmetic issues like paint.
I hate to say it, but you’re much better off just letting this go. You would be looking at an entire complete paint job that’s gonna run $8-10k

Dealership isn’t gonna pay for this, neither is the Ford
