I had the same thoughts. I live in a quiet, hilly town full of stop signs, many uphill with little to no traffic. Coming to a full stops doesn't take very long so as you come to a stop the engine turns off only to have to come back on seconds later, it would be nice to pause the shutdown process until I am on flatter roads. The Hybrid is great going down hill, I can go miles before the engine has to come on.
I don't know why you'd turn it off. I hate start/stop on most vehicles but since my poweboost doesn't use the starter to ignite and you have immediate power from the electric motor, it's seemless. What is annoying about the PB and reason for wanting to turn it off?
No factory way that I know of, other than selecting tow haul, or maybe sport modes but it defeats a big part of the function and savings, of the hybrid system.
I'll add my query to others. Why would you want to?
I hate to prolong this discussion, but this brings up something I have wondered about.
I have a 2023 PB. The window sticker options/other section shows several removals. One of them is "Auto Stop - Start Removal" followed by "No Charge" for each removal. I was glad auto stop-start was a removal on mine as I wondered what sense that made as the PB goes into electric mode when stopped.
If that feature was installed, wouldn't there be a way to turn it off? Or how would the PB behave differently? Maybe it did something different in one of the drive modes?
