Question about auto stop/start on hybrid

I was wondering how the auto stop start is with the 3.5 eco boost and the hybrid system. My main concern is do the turbos still get proper cooling when just the electric motor is running? Or will the engine not shut off until the turbos are properly cooled? Does anyone know how it works?

The turbos are cooled by coolant, not just oil like with older turbos. From what I remember the coolant keeps circulating in electric only mode or when the engine is off at a stop light. It has been some time since I remember looking at that when I was considering getting one but I decided it was not a problem.

Engine coolant is not flowing with engine off. If you want to hotrod, use sport mode. Bearings are water cooled. Hybrid is hybrid, I wouldn't use "auto start stop" to define what it is, they are not the same. In normal hybrid mode the engine is off well before the vehicle is stopped. In sport mode it acts more like traditional auto start stop keeping cooling alive while stopping (but also still using regen braking). In sport mode the vehicle is only off while stopped.

Hamma, no electric water pump? I don't doubt you, just asking.

There is no electric water pump...yet. The 24's removed the BISG leaving only the water pump as belt driven. A few here have speculated that an electric water pump on a future model year would be a logical next step.

There is a water pump for cabin heating on all vehicles with ASS including PB. It cycles water from the block to the heat exchanger and doesn't flow any water to the rad.
