You might consider seeing if you can find a leftover ‘23. Discounts of $10K plus are not uncommon and you can also get 1.9 for up to 72 mo if you are financing.

I just picked up a ‘23 Lariat in the Atlanta area last week. $10K off plus I had a $4K PCO plus 1.9. For me it was a business decision. Too good to pass up.
Yeah, I second this. There are still a lot of 23's around. I'm in ATL too and bought a leftover 23. 13k off sticker and 1.9 for 72 mo. The truck wasn't exactly what I wanted down to the last option, but close enough that I couldn't justify paying 10k more for an ordered 24. If you're flexible, the deals are out there. This is the dealer I bought from. They still have 22 '23 F150's in stock.

Same. I got a 23 Lariat 502A FX4 Powerboost for $12k under MSRP with the 1.9% financing. Ford is literally loaning us money so that we can turn around and make a guaranteed 3.3% spread (5.2% nominal) in an MM off their capital. That is an additional $8k in my pocket amortized out over 72m with $66k loan (rolled the ESP which was price matched to Granger into the loan). $12k off MSRP plus an $8k financing incentive...yeah I'll take that deal.

They had one truck with the specs I wanted, but not necessarily the package I wanted. The price they could give me today really wasn't that much better than the 24 I'm looking at with a different dealer.

Hmm, I'd like to see the arithmetic on that. 24's are about 5% more MSRP to MSRP and they have at most 3k in rebates. There are probably 20 Ford dealers in the Atlanta area, so some investigation might yield the truck you want- or something close. You will need to be somewhat flexible but if money is not a concern, by all means order the truck you want. I never keep anything more than a couple years, so I'm all about the best deal as long as the truck is fairly close to what I want.

'24 financing is - I think - 5.9 for 36. And I don't think they are doing $10K off on '24s. That said, get what you want.

Is there a shipping company that this forum trusts that I could use to pickup and deliver the truck to Georgia?
I spoke to Granger today about ordering a truck. Brittany told me they can give the names of a few transport companies to deliver to me in Washington. Granger doesnt get involved in that. I'm going to build a truck online and see what kind of price they will give me.

Does the current F150 have a CVT transmission? Is that a good thing or bad thing?

anyone having issues with their 24 having seal leaks or burning oil?
No, not a CVT. The F150 has a 10 speed transmission.

Every 24 that I am considering has an OTD price below MSRP. They are also offering 3.9 for 60.

I'd do the math carefully. 3.9 is double 1.9... Your total cost for the 24 truck won't be obvious from looking at OTD price. For instance, (I'm assuming you're not trading anything in) a 50,000 truck plus tax is 53500. At 3.9 for 60, the payment is 982.87 and the total interest is 5472.29 which you have to add onto the price of the truck for your total cost of 58972.
If you buy a 23 that is conservatively 5000 cheaper- and could be much less, total financed is 48150 @ 1.9 for 72, which gives you a payment of 708.12 and interest cost of 2835. Total cost of the truck is 50,985. That is a difference of 7987. almost 8k.
If you have a budget of X dollars you will be able to buy a much higher level truck if you get a 23 vs 24.

Deciding between a 2023 and 2024 can be...complicated. Lots of factors to consider. Resale value, financing rate and term available features between 2 or 3 trims or trucks. Was the 2023 a loaner or 'test' driven? Even with extremely low miles that's very important to me but not to others. Color is a big factor too. Lots of folks settled for a color they didn't quite like for a slightly lower price and regretted it. But many folks buy new every 2 years or so and price is everything.
One thing is absolutely sure. If you don't research and know what's important to YOU and fight for a fair deal you will pay to much.

First post of this forum.

I am a potential new F150 owner. I have always owned Toyotas, but after this 22 Tundra rollout and the issues they are facing, I refuse to buy a Tundra.

I am currently looking and have offers on a 24 XLT 4WD with the 5.0 V8. I plan on purchasing the Ford Protect warranty too.

I have seen people complain about transmission issues and was wondering if any of this was fixed in the 24s. I have always had very reliable trucks and I do not want to have transmission issues on a truck with low miles.

Anything I should know or consider before purchasing? Should I wait until later in the summer or fall to purchase?

I am all ears and am ready to listen to everything y'all have to say.

Thanks!
Yes my post is subjective but 2 for 2 with shifting/clunking issues. It's a problem with Ford and the 10r80. There are six 2021+ F150s where I work that people own with the 10r80. Five of the six 2021+ all hard shifting issues 3-4 or 7-8. Ford fan boys will be upset at this post but I've had Ford all my life with the exception of one RAM1500 it went 190k + damn near problem free only issue was a MFS that went out $150 and swapped it out. But I missed my Fords came back in 2019 and nothing but issues since.

**apparently 2023 and above they've updated the CDF drum to put a lip at the top of the bushing (only took them 6 years)**

The 10 speed is a complete shit box bolted to the F150. My 2019 f-150 10r80 had hard clunking (Ford consistently denied any issues). It finally went bad at 37k. Got a 2021 F150 (after I went after Ford legally for the 5.0 consuming 3.5-4qts of oil every 4k, water leaks in the cab, Crack on the roof by the windshield, drive shaft clunking on startup...all which they denied to fix except the leaks in the cab which they kept my teuck for 70+ days).

So onto the 2021...ehhh transmission still a shit box and shifts Hard from 3-4. Ford tells me it's a normal characteristic of the 10r80 (3 different dealers 1 in Alabama and 2 in SC now). They've done refreshes, reset, and a supposed TSB update. Still shifts rough from 3-4 and downshifts extremely hard when braking from 4-3. My personal opinion I wouldn't get a Ford until this transmission is built right.

I could and would ditch this truck as I paid cash for it. But I don't feel like taking a 30k loss in 3years on the truck then forking more out for another problem child. Not sure which brand I'll go with next but Ford is continously pumping out shit quality (can say the same for the other manufacturers). But Ford has consistently given me trash and the bull shit "normal characteristic" excuses.

If you have Instagram go follow FlyingWrenchesAuto...he does tons of videos on the 10r80 and the consistent problems they have as he's consistently rebuilding them.

It will be nice when Ford finally gets rid of all the 23's... I mean it's only June, lol. Once the 23's are gone, the resale will actually go up since there won't be tons of trucks out there selling for 10-15k under MSRP. But, crazy high sticker and high interest rates will continue to keep the average Joe from buying. 1000/mo payments used to be house mortgages and I really wonder how long it can last.

I believe you, that your 10R80 experience has not been good. That is a big bummer.

However, since 2005, Ford has sold almost 14 million F150s. Placed end to end, that's over 54,000 miles of trucks, and more than twice the circumference of the earth.

It should be no surprise a shop like you mention is rebuilding a lot of F150 transmissions.

You could just as easily say that last year F150s needed more flats fixed than any other vehicle, and you would probably be right.

Another former Toyota guy here: 4th gen 4Runner, 5th gen 4Runner, and 3rd gen Tacoma.

Because of the short history of massive failures with the 3rd gen (22-24) Tundra, I would not touch a 3rd gen Tundra, 4th gen Tacoma, or soon to be released 6th gen 4Runner with a 100 foot pole. They are trash. Toyota has lost its way, at least for now. The inflated pricing only makes it worse.

I am happier than a pig in doo doo in my new F-150. I advanced about 15 to 20 years in technology. Literally felt like I was commanding the space shuttle on the drive home from delivery. I don't have to pray when I'm accelerating to merge onto a busy highway either.

Now, am I expecting the bulletproof reliability I saw with the three aforementioned Toyotas that I owned? Probably no, but I'll maintain this Ford like I do all of my machines (meticulously) and hope for the best.

Bean counters at Ford certainly don't think it will hold up. I looked at Granger's warranty plans and my Lord are they expensive! I bought 7 years/125,000 miles/$0 deductible Toyota Platinum ESP for $1,150 for my last Toyota. The same coverage for the F-150 is $2,605 from Ford. Lol yikes.
