In you opinion would you wrap that into the final deal? Meaning would you ask for money off to get it done?
Never hurts to try. Worst they can say is no. If so then Rust removers and undercoatings are relatively cheap. Something you can easily do yourself over a weekend.

Another thing to take in to consideration is your local climate and if they salt the roads in winter or not. For dry climates and no salt, even if it's left as is chances are you'll trade it off before it gets bad enough to ever be an issue.

I guess I was concerned because it was a sales guy taking the photos. They arent inclined to show me the worse areas.
all the areas that are gonna be worse, is gonna be inside the frame rails.

There are chemicals to neutralize and remove this minor surface rust. After that, you would need to paint these areas. I would then get the frame and major components coded with something like surface shield or wool wax or whatever.

With that being said you in Arizona as long as you treat frame and components and then repaint, you should be fine

I appreciate the feedback. Im going to see if they would do it for me. On another note do you think 52k otd on this rig would be a decent deal shipped to me. I usually invest in months of market research before I pull the trigger and usually get a vehicle private party to save sales tax. Since im under the gun on this one I can't afford that luxury.

Ontario uses a LOT of salt and brine.
Looks like a truck thats gone through a couple winters untreated. If getting it now and working at it a bit, shouldn't be an issue.
I'm thinking "Salt and brine....What are you talking about? It doesn't snow in Ontario, CA (California)"

I won't buy a truck from Canada. Not necessarily because of the rust factor, but because of how these trucks end up in the US. I won't support it.
I noticed this with the owners, seems like you may know about this more than me. What gives? It had like 4 owner switches in Canada before being bought by a dealer in Arkansas and then shipped to a sister dealership in Colorado.

To keep it short, I'm looking for a used 2023-2025 or 2015-2017 Lariat 502A. I had no plans to purchase a new truck anytime soon, but some drunk yahoooo had other plans, see photo below. I have found a pretty good prospect, but the truck lived its first 2 years of life in Ontario, CA. I had the dealer ship send me over photos today, and it definitely has more rust than my 2016 F150 that I am replacing. I usually don't have to worry about rust, as I'm in the sunny lands of Arizona, so I figured I would ask here to get opinions from people who do live in the rust belt.

Nope I would not buy any truck from Canada. I went to one of the so called discount dealers and the truck looked good but rust was everywhere. You'll end up paying more in the long run, also most of this trucks were abused as they tend to be used for rental and or fleet.

I wouldn’t buy a truck from Canada, I’ve read there could be differences in warranty and recalls.
I would not buy a truck that has had four owners in two years.
If the truck was great, why would it end up in the states, Canadians buy used trucks too. Something doesn’t smell right.
Too many trucks available to risk it and still have to deal with rust.

Agree that the rust is minor and a thorough undercarriage wash should remove the salt residue visible in some pictures. Did you get a Carfax report? That information may be more relevant in your decision than the surface rust.

Why buy a rusted Canadian truck at all? Just hold out for something you don’t have reservations about. Me I would not buy it.

Are you an adult? Do you really need people here to make decisions like that for you? That is minor rust, not even rust more discolor from the type of steel formed. You might have a speedometer that is in KM from Canada. You might have to pay import fees and have safety inspections before registering in Arizona

Isn't that what forums are for..... Sharing knowledge. Your right, though, if I wasn't pressed for time and had the luxury of not needing a vehicle, I could take more time to come to my own conclusions. I was just asking for advice as I've never dealt with rust before, and the truck has been the only thing remotely close to what I want that has popped up nationwide in the last week. On top of it all, as many of us in the forum would be, im absolutely devastated that my mint truck is totaled and have gone mentally unhinged dealing with the whole situation. I'm not afraid to say it, I've woken up the last 4 nights and haven't been able to go back to bed. So since my brain is pretty much mush, I figured I'd get some feedback from people who are more clear-minded at the moment.

I'm kind of pressed for time. Guess I could buy a 4k beater or something to allow myself my usual buying process time. I Usually take close to 6 months to find a perfect private party mint truck. Unfortunately, I do not have that luxury here. This truck was the only truck nationwide that met all my criteria in the last two weeks. I've got two more weeks with the rental, so wish me luck.

yes, I did. The only thing i don't like is the 4 owners. Maybe a dealership loaner? From the mixed replies on here, i may stay away from it, but it is a nice looking truck.
