To keep it short, I'm looking for a used 2023-2025 or 2015-2017 Lariat 502A. I had no plans to purchase a new truck anytime soon, but some drunk yahoooo had other plans, see photo below. I have found a pretty good prospect, but the truck lived its first 2 years of life in Ontario, CA. I had the dealer ship send me over photos today, and it definitely has more rust than my 2016 F150 that I am replacing. I usually don't have to worry about rust, as I'm in the sunny lands of Arizona, so I figured I would ask here to get opinions from people who do live in the rust belt.

I won't buy a truck from Canada. Not necessarily because of the rust factor, but because of how these trucks end up in the US. I won't support it.

What rust? We'd call that a slight discoloration around here.

Going to work.
That truck has less rust than either my 2021 Lariat or my 2025 K.R. !

Ontario uses a LOT of salt and brine.
Looks like a truck thats gone through a couple winters untreated. If getting it now and working at it a bit, shouldn't be an issue.

That's all relatively minor surface rust. If anything you can use a rust remover then treat it with a preventative coating or have the problem areas painted.
In you opinion would you wrap that into the final deal? Meaning would you ask for money off to get it done?

I guess I was concerned because it was a sales guy taking the photos. They arent inclined to show me the worse areas.

Can you elaborate on this... I know the dealers get it for a lower cost due to the dollar exchange, but is there anything else I need to be thinking about.

Exactly. Nothing like seeing a truck with 4 owners when in reality, it had 1.

If it's a good price I'd do it. That amount of surface rust is nothing. Run it through a good under carriage wash a couple of times and enjoy.
