Greetings,

I would like to request a look up on a recent update from yesterday that failed according to my Ford Pass app. The update pertained to monitoring the driver and reducing false indication of driver not paying attention. App indicated truck would attempt to update at next scheduled time; I set my truck to apply updates at 3:00AM each day, as applicable.

This is the first update I’ve received that has failed, as far as I know. I’m aware of the 12v battery issues, and I do have the original battery. I’m retired, so don’t drive much, but I always place the truck on a battery tender.

My truck: Job1 2022 Limited with a manufactured date of 01/2022, chip hold for three months delivered on 05/12/2022.

VIN: 1FTFW1ED8NFA27560

To date I’ve had no issues with truck, so this failed update caught me off guard.

In your case, it did not fail due to battery issues. Battery stats reported to the cloud when the update tried to install were excellent. The reason it failed is unclear (at least to me). Looks like there was a problem writing the files? There is nothing you did wrong and nothing you can do now but wait for it to be resent.

"Not complete" means the OTA failed for some reason. In your case, this same update has failed twice due to a manifest mismatch. The files that are trying to be sent to your truck do not match what your truck is supposed to get, so the update failed. There is nothing you did wrong or could do differently. Eventually, the correct files will be sent.

Confirmed that no updates have been sent to this truck yet. I have seen many people on several forums report that they got an email survey for an update they didn't receive, so you are not alone there. Modules with pending updates are below.

Truck is on Sync 23159 which is one version behind the latest. No recent OTA history. Modules pending updates are below and this list does not show APIM, GWM, TCU and possibly an IPC update you are missing to be fully up to date.

Thank you Rugedraw! As far as the Sync update goes is that something FDRS handles as well? Or am I forced to wait on the update to come down to me if ever? The other modules that are not shown is that because of the recent issue I’ve read where Ford has locked out until they solve an issue on their side? I was actually considering getting on your list to borrow the mongoose adapter, but I’d hate to jump too early and miss out on being able to update several modules.

In your case, your truck is not showing any APIM, GWM TCU or IPC updates, so it seems like you may not be able to fully update the truck even with FDRS. In some cases, with the help of another member here, this is fixable. We would have to cross that bridge when we get there.

I’ll be honest I’m mainly looking for the PCM update because of all the transmission issues I’m having currently but if I’m going to be in there updating, I figure I might as well do everything I possibly can.

When you are bored, can someone look in FDRS and tell me what module the dealer service tech updated on Aug 22, 2024 (probably between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM)?

Dealer service reps are not the best communicators and their paperwork reflects this. They "fixed" a check engine light with a module update is all they will say.

Of these, the ACM is most likely done already and the BCM you won't be able to do without a dealer FDRS login. I don't see anything there worth spending $50 on.
