Had my truck at the dealers Friday to fix the Boo-Boo they did in not reconnecting the Propower properly while they had the dash apart to warranty the HVAC vents that the knobs had broken off before I had purchased the truck.

Dealer said that the truck tried to do an update on the APIM Jan 26th but had failed to update. Said it should retry at some point and he showed no other updates listed or any reason as to why it failed.

VIN is 1FTFW1E55MKD77338

Is there anything showing up for this truck that I should be concerned about?

Thanks for the help gang!
I see no indication that the tried to update the APIM or anything else. APIM update 23-PU0724-DOM-RS has been sent to your truck three times and failed all three. The most recent failure failed due to a "release notes validation error" which is something I have not seen before and I am not sure what that means. What is strange is that the Sync page in PTS for your truck shows your truck got an APIM update on 1/20 that brought you to Sync version 23159, but vehicle history on that date does not show your dealer updating anything. That is a bit confusing. What Sync version does your touch screen say you are on?

I had my truck in last Friday to be brought up to date. Any chance someone could check VIN 1FTFW1ED1MFA70300 to confirm that it is now fully up to date?
THX
They did update a bunch of modules. See below. They did not update the CMR. They tried to twice, but it failed due to a communications error. They also did not update the IPMA because the battery was too low and I am guessing they didn't have the truck connected to a power supply. All you show pending is a CMR, PSCM and IPMA update at this time.

Ah that's right. I am able to see now that your last update was indeed in April of last year. Your are still missing some updates, but not as much as you may think. Your truck has the 8" screen, so it will not get a lot of the updates you see people talking about as many updates only come to vehicles with more bells and whistles and therefore, more modules and more updates.

Many people stopped getting updates about a year ago once they got to the 4.x.x. updates like you, and I have seen many 2023 owners here and other forums report that they started getting more 4.x.x updates recently, so hopefully you get the rest soon. I don't see anything wrong with your truck.

Have not seen any signs of an OTA update since you and Jessie helped me out with the failed update last October and the sync screen is showing the same info still on version 23159.

Dealer did not attempt any updates, they just fixed the mechanical issues in January to replace the HVAC knobs, then Friday to reconnect the ProPower jack that they did not plug back in properly in January.

Full report is attached. Your truck did not seem very happy today.
I can't find the DTC listed in the PCM for the "Engine failed to crank" in the service manual. Do you know what the code is referring to as the issue?

I had to back to see what it Jesse needed to do and I remember your case now. Remind me tomorrow to dig a bit deeper into your situation. FDRS shows you have a GWM pending, so I think you're good and just need to wait for the OTA roulette to get to you.

Your truck is fine. The update Ford is trying to send you is failing because you already have it. You just need the GWM to be sent to you instead of that APIM update that keeps failing.

Last OTA that was sent you was 3.5.4 and that was 13 months ago. I do not have a good explanation as to why it has been so long since you get an update sent, but on the surface, everything looks fine with your truck. Crap luck with the OTA process is my guess.

Last OTA you got was 6.5.0 and you are on the latest Sync version. You are almost fully up to date as far as power up updates go.

Would appreciate any info you can grab on 1FTFW1ED3PFA61988! Just got this 2023 Lariat PB over the weekend. It sat on a dealer’s used lot for over half a year.

Anyone know how much the dealer will charge me to fix this? Any ballpark? My wife is mad because I want to sell the truck out of spite!
Another individual on this forum mentioned that the dealership quoted him at about $1,600 to replace the APIM. A good dealer could have and would have fixed your issue under warranty. There are many people on this forum who have had it corrected. Obviously, the initial issue is Ford's fault, but not getting it corrected is the dealership's fault.

I'm not a Ford fanboy in any way, but I do appreciate that Ford is generally improving the customer experience with updates, which is not my experience with other brands. If your Ford has received zero updates, it has received the same number of updates as all of our other vehicles (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Dodge) have received with the exception of one (Lexus), and that one has received one update in 9 months of ownership. And there were many minor issues that could have been corrected in every instance. Any vehicle with software has many issues that could be corrected.
