I got my truck back from the dealer today and they claimed they “updated” the system and did a master reset. The truck shows the Sync version is now 20312 rev 243. Did they actually do anything beyond the factory reset?

I'll check it out tomorrow, but any sync version that starts with 20 is usually no bueno.

They didn't do sh*t. Literally nothing. Al I see they did is a passive anti-theft alarm programming procedure with FDRS. Nothing else.

Getting some odd behavior.... Testing enabling Predictive Speed Assist (PSA) via Forscan and I get the option to turn it on/off on the APIM but it doesn't do anything. Others have gotten it to work.

OTA at 6.2.0 so truck is updated but wondering if I have some outstanding updates via FDRS. VIN 1FTFW1ED5MFB13052 If not software levels then settings....

@Paul Neubauer They did it on 9/20. It failed to install the regular way and they had to CAN it in with FDRS. Same as my trucks and many others. The tech started the IPC update at 8:54 am and finished at 3:39pm. This is why dealers don't wanna do it. You owe that tech a bottle of Scotch. lol

My truck has never had a successful IPC OTA and probably never will. Don't be surprised if your next IPC OTA fails, too.

Picked up my truck until they can get parts for the rear axle replacement and the paperwork has a note from the tech stating "IPC module took 7 hours to update!" I think he feels our pain...

You are correct; your truck has not gotten a successful update since it left the factory. You are on Sync 20301 and your truck will never get an update until your APIM's software is updated past where it is right now. Your truck was sent OTA 1.7.1 in August, but it timed out. I am guessing the truck was sitting in the dealer lot during the OTA trigger and it expired without attempting to install since nobody turned the truck on to give it consent to install. However, it would have failed anyway.

Attached is the TSB your dealer would need to follow to get it to update. Based on what I have seen in the past, they will most likely not be able to/want to do it and just say it would not update and order you a new one. Once they get your APIM situated, you will start getting OTA's, but it will be a looooong time before you are up to date.

Follow up question to this: if I got a Mongoose cable and FDRS to update the truck myself, would it first require the steps of that TSB to be complied with?

Most probably yes. It is unlikely that it will update the easy way.
