To start, I am completely new to audio altogether.

The rear speakers blew on my 2021 f150 supercrew cab with the basic audio package.

Just looking to replace the front and rear door speakers at this time, and maybe do a sub with an amp down the road if I can find something that is around $200 to $300 dollars. that would improve the lower bass tones in the truck, and be a simple plug and play option.

Question is, If I just remove the speakers from all four doors, can I just plug and play with Kicker CS series 6x9 in the front doors, and Kicker CS Series 6.5" in the rear? Will this still allow me to play with all the audio settings from volume to adjust the bass and treble ect. and fade the sound from front to back and side to side?

If someone has better speakers in mind I am open to other options if they are around the same cost (about $200 total).

1. The speakers should be plug and play. You should do some sound treatment to the doors while you are in there such as Dynamat. That is the biggest bang for the buck improvement to sound you can make.

2. You will need some sort of device to counteract the factory bass roll off if you want to run a sub and amp down the line like a Kicker Key.

Yes, they will work and fit right in place.
The HS10 can be used, a powered 10" sub, just tap for signal form front door speakers. Can add later.

JBL GTO939.. are what i used up front and the 6 1/2" JBL in the rear. 94 dB speakers - you get the most from the modest Ford Amp. No speaker is going to hug the door like the factor plastic frame factory... get some insulation foam trim - like an exterior door so you can fix gaps.. imperfections. Check the polarity twice before you wire them too.... it took me an hour a door. you need two hands or a lot of tape to hold the inside of the door panel while you re-wire and replace. when you are done.. you will not believe how much better it does sound. like ten times better..

I actually found these as I was doing some more digging. A few questions if you dont mind.

1. When you say "the modest ford amp" you are implying the amp is already installed in the truck correct, there is no need to add one?

2. When you are referring to "insulation foam trim" are you referring to something like the link here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WW6MZLM/ref=ewc_pr_img_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

3: Would you recommend foam bucks or baffles for these speakers such as one of the links here:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09CG33RS5/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A3MD312K0S1B7O&psc=1
and here:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09CG33RS5/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A3MD312K0S1B7O&psc=1

Completely new to audio and trying to watch as much as I can and read but keep getting confused the more I look into it. haha.

Also, do you have an example of what insulation foam you are referring to, and what you mean by polarity?

If you are completely new to car audio, make sure to also purchase the correct speaker harnesses and adapters along with the speakers. I believe that Crutchfield includes these for free if you order through them.

The ford has a modest output - I measured mine at 15W per channel. not great - but not terrible.

2.. you are ok. I would just go to Lowes or home depot. same stuff.

3. The old speakers are really weak - as you will see. plastic. a JBL like I suggest weights maybe 5xs as much as factory. it will be tight under the door panel - so I recommend a foam so you don't have squeaks or noises.. foam between the speaker and the door.. and between the speaker and the panel. that is what I did.. and no noise....

4. polarity - that is plus or minus (I hate to think what they don't teach in school anymore and what do they do teach) you take a 9 volt battery and connect the terminal of the battery to the terminals of the speaker. on new and old. you want the displacement (the direction the speaker moves) to be the same when you hook up plus and minus the same.

Thanks again,

Confused about which type of foam/insulation you are suggesting though. Are you just saying to put a foam ring around the outside diameter such as the photos show below and another foam puck behind the magnet or the back plate?

Just tap, the HS8 and HS10 just need 12v power, ground, and a signal (tap) that turns it on. When your driver door starts to play it will basically turn on the powered sub. Radio shuts off, sub does.

Will be making another thread regading this. Hoping to do it in the coming month or two, and pretty sure I have it figured out. Likely will not be doing the sub at that time, but we will see.

If you have not already purchased the CS speakers, go with the KS series since it includes the adapters that will fit the truck. Also, don't forget you will need tweeter adapters, and wire harnesses for the doors and if it's in the budget, block-off plates will help a lot.

Crutchfield offer good speakers at reasonable prices. They have the electrical adapters and mounting adapters if needed. Great customer support1
