Recirc will turn off when you have defrost on. It only works on front and floor vents.
Recirc will turn off on it's own when it feels like. It don't care if you only have the dash vents or floor vents or both on.

Do you like recirculated diesel fume free air when you have the heater on?

TOO BAD.

It's even done this when it's raining and literally 100% humidity outside the system will flip to fresh air if the set temp is even 1 degree warmer than outside. You know, cause some junior engineer had a brilliant idea for this crap and now we get to suffer with it.

there’s a setting in forscan, I did it awhile ago, IIRC it’s something related to remembering the last setting or something like that

Sounds like you are pretty bitter about this so rather than trying to help, I'll just keep my mouth shut.

Maybe Autostop Eliminator could make a product to force recirc to stay on. It works perfectly on the Autostop.... It would plug in behind the switch and make it "sticky"...

Just to be clear, you quoted me but it wasn’t me who said anything about being bitter
Just to be clear, the statement I made BEFORE I quoted you wasn't actually directed towards you.

We have a 2023 Ford Explorer, V6 engine, and the recirc button goes off at least 10 times in a 20 minute period. It doesn't matter what the temp, or weather conditions are, in-or-outside of the vehicle. Our son has the exact same vehicle: year and engine, but his recirc button does NOT go off unless he turns it off. BTW, our recirc button will not turn back on automatically. I mean, I could wait 30 minutes (or more) and get all of the exhaust smells, and deal with the changing of the cabin temp to see if it comes back on. However, I'm not going to, nor should I.

Took it to the dealership, but no codes came up during the diagnostic test. I spoke to the service manager again yesterday. He said there were two 2023 Explorers in the shop (for other reasons) and he tested them both. The recirc button would turn off after a couple of minutes with one of them, but the other one stayed on. He's still trying to figure it out.

Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are currently working with? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your recirculation concerns.

It is pretty normal during colder weather for the vehicle to disable the recirculation button constantly.

I don't know if its been said in this thread as I didn't read it entirely, but this has been true on fords for over 20 years, sadly; its not just the F150s.
