There can't be a hygrometer that's controlling recirculate, I live in the fucking desert and and it turned itself off five times in the 12 mile drive back from my mother's house last week. I knew instantly every time because of: tar from roadway repaving and diesel fumes from idling service vehicles, someone smoking while walking their dog, dead animal, and the multiple assholes with wood burning fireplaces using them on 'no-burn' days when we have temperature inversions where fireplace smoke makes a u-turn out of the chimney and hugs the ground.

I'm sticking a sock in the fresh air inlet! Sick of this bullshit.
I had the same thought. How do I get to the inlet. If I need some fresh air, I have something called "windows" (NOT the Microsoft type).

Ummmmmmmm.

1. There is a humidity sensor

2. It doesn’t care what the humidity is outside the truck

3. Since max a/c forces recirc to “on”, will keeping max a/c on keep recirc on indefinitely? (I.e. turn on max a/c and turn fan to low or comfortable rate)

Where are you getting these detailed diagrams from?

Does this have good wiring diagrams?

I found this post about how to add an interrupt switch on earlier models.

https://www.f150forum.com/f38/recirculated-air-keeps-turning-itself-off-241468/index3/

I could not locate the correct wires when I tried. I will have my wife take a look since she is not red/green color blind like I AM.

I always get the wiring diagrams too, they are great. Here’s the air inlet. I wonder if I disconnect the humidity sensor, which way it would default (open or closed). I’ve tried disabling it via forscan in the BCM, but it still turns off recirc.; still researching though. The key is probably in the hvac module but no one has decifered the codes in it (that I’m aware of).

Max AC indeed is the only way to keep recirculate on. I kept it on the entire spring, summer and fall in AZ. It seems retarded to use Max AC in the winter, especially since I am enjoying nearly 20% better city MPG.

Last time I drove the truck, relative humidity was in the single digits and the dew point was 33° with a 55° outside air temperature. My trip was only 5 miles out and 5 miles back. On the way home, to remove the variable of my respiration; I left the windows open. Recirculate canceled itself 3 times on the way out and 4 times on the way home. My speed was between 30-35mph.

They must be using messed up tables. Or whomever's job it was to program it figured nobody would notice. Since it's pretty random, there has to be something more at play. It totally sucks because it could potentially be a very slick system and remove the need to fumble with the climate control system and improve situational awareness; instead, it does the exact opposite, since I am constantly looking down to check on it to see if it's still on and constantly having to turn it back on.

Gaming the sensor would only be half the battle, since recirculate also cycles off with the ignition. Something that I learned parallel parking a trailer. The truck also needs to warn and chime that the reverse brake assist and cross traffic alert are disabled every time I key off; a fact that I am well aware of, since I am keying on and off to get out of the truck to check on the trailer :/

those are the connector locations. I’m not sure if you can see that wire bundle from the footwell/side console area or not. Accessing behind the hvac may be the easiest.

I've tried MAX AC, but it's too damn cold even on fan speed 1 when I just want the cabin to be a nice 68-70 degrees. And for the last 30+ years driving, using the defroster if there are ever foggy windows has been the solution for ~50 years. And I've never had a windshield fog except for first start up on a cold morning and the defroster fixes that in less than 5mins. If they were to ever sent me a new vehicle survey, this item will be one of the things I'll roast them on besides the janky console gear shifter.

Yea, I used max a/c on low last week, but it was 80 in Charleston ?

Exactly! Never once in my entire life have I said:

"Oh shit! My windshield is fogging, let me turn recirculate off!"

This is the button that you look for:

Has anyone figured a way to stop the auto shut off of the recirculate button?
