If you do "Max AC" but turn the fan speed down all the way, will the auto recirculation still shut off? I can probably live with running fan speed at 1 if it stopped the recirculation from turning off.

This is still an extremely stupid "feature" any way you slice it.

I am guessing the reason recirc turns off automatically is that it causes moisture to accumulate in the system somewhere which inevitably leads to the dirty sock smell on startup from the mold or mildew or whatever growing in the AC system somewhere.

I have found that mine turns off more frequently if my temperatures settings is higher than the ambient temp.

Example: A/C set at 70, but ambient temp is 50. Turns off a LOT.

MAX AC keeps it ON, but even with fan at level 1, it's too cold, like 50 degrees cold when you need it 68.

Yesterday there were controlled burns in our area in the afternoon when it was in the 60's and the stupid thing wouldn't stay enabled and I nearly got choked out. WTF man.

It's really annoying. I have tried all sorts of values in the HVAC module, disconnected humidity/temp sensor, etc. and it will shut off in exactly 5 min to the second, every time. There are a few lines in the BCM module as shown below, and I have tried different values there as well with no luck.

I am about to go old-school and put a switch on the fresh air door motor so that I can turn on recirc, and then hit that switch and cut power so it is stuck in recirc mode until I WANT to change it.

The 2021 Bronco has the same stupid recirculate button. Hoping someone finds some way to fix this. I talked to Ford. They said some bs about it helping control humidity. It is alway humid in the gulf coast!

Come summer time, there will be another thread as to why their truck's smell like mildew....just like last summer....

There are settings in the HVAC module that are specific to recirc cycles/strategies. They have names like 'cabin air refresh strategy' and 'air quality sensor recirc strategy'. It seems these settings can be changed via FORScan to alter the behavior of the recirc button. I haven't yet heard of anyone trying these changes, though.

They're on the HVAC tab in the 2021 F150 FORScan spreadsheet:

I need a fix too for My bronco sport.
I also notice, if You turn any button to change the flow to the foots or instruments the recirculation does not work even with the recirculation led on

I’ve tried probably all of these with no luck. And the defog strategy mentioned below. It seems most of these strategies are connected to “auto” mode. Manual mode still times out at exactly 5 min every time.

Give this a try:

HVAC
733-01-07 xxxx x8xx xx (If OEM is A)

This disables the “Enhanced Windshield Anti Fogging Strategy” which is the primary cause of the recirculation turning off.
