Nice! Glad that you were able to get it taken care of. This recall is holding up my sale (since last Tuesday), so hopefully they can get things straightened out soon.
That’s good news and gives me hope that our sale will happen soon too! We are in Canada though so might be a bit still to wait.

They sorted it out and I picked it up this afternoon. The confusion on the repair was that one figure showed the two insulators from the top, another figure was from the bottom and the service department wanted to be 100% sure they were drilling the holes on the proper sides.
Dealer was able to get parts expedited for my truck and one other because they were in the process of being sold. Those were the only two they have done the repair on. They have 6 more in transit they they can’t get parts for yet. I’m happy though.
That’s awesome! Congrats and thanks for all the updates. Here’s hoping my dealership can do the same. Enjoy the truck!

For the life of me I can't figure out how it's possible for that shielding material to destroy a driveshaft. I mean the pictures support the possibility, but how would those cases have been soundless? I would have assumed some kind of noise would be made by the situation.

I'll look under mine tomorrow, but I am not going to be in a hurry to go to the dealership. If mine is sagging I will FIX it where it won't ever sag again. :)

Thanks! I only have driven it for about an hour but really like it already. Coming from a Fusion for the past 6 years it feels huge. Kids both are in love with it.
I just crawled under to try and photograph the insulators and the rivets but the lighting sucked and my driveway is very cold.
The repair instructions linked in post #50 have pretty descriptive photos of what the repair to secure the insulators entails though. There were no marks on the drive shaft but there is a blob of seam sealant from one of the new rivets on it.
Really hope yours resolves quickly too. Good luck.

My appointment for the recall was today. I took it in and after I picked it up I found out I was mislead on service they said they performed. When I picked the truck up I was told they didn't have the kit to complete the recall, and they inspected the driveshaft and it was okay, and they installed zip ties to temporarily hold the insulators in place until the kit arrives. They told me they would give me a call when the kit was available and sent me on my way. I felt they at least did something to improve the situation with the temporary fix and determined it was appropriate to do so.

So, the temporary fix they said they performed today was not done (Installing Zip Ties to hold up the insulation). I returned with the truck and spoke with the Service Manager and then showed him (he got under the truck with me) that the efforts he said were done were not done.

I felt my time was greatly wasted and that there apparently are no good Quality Assurance checks being done to ensure what the Service Manager tells the customer is actually done. The service manager implied my visit today was productive because they got to inspect the driveshaft that is part of the recall. I say what's the point? There was no temporary fix done and they have no recall kit (basically 5 rivets/washers, cleaning solvent, corrosion adhesive) to complete the recall. Also, they do not have a date they could reschedule me because they have no recall kit. So, in my mind the drive shaft needs to be inspected again.

I hope that I am wrong but my other concern now is that I think the dealership will probably put me on their list to complete the recall after they receive the recall kits for all the F-150's they can not sell until they install the recall kits on them . Since I actually have very loose insulators, and they are sagging pretty good now, I feel I should be at the head of the line before they sell new trucks.

I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of the fix. Please dress up warm :)

I hear you. Now that I know what the issue is I would hope that I would hear the rubbing noise. That said, there are a lot of weird hybrid and pedestrian safety noises with a PowerBoost. Other than that my hearing isn't getting any better.

There could be issues where the insulator barely touches and you may not hear much of a sound. Because that driveshaft spins pretty fast it may not take a lot of diving to weaken the driveshaft...that's what I'm assuming that Ford figured out with their modeling and simulations.

I wonder if Ford would consider removing the annoying pedestrian safety sounds with an emergent software update so that I might better hear the insulators. :)

I keep thinking of a pottery wheel reading this thread as it's surprising to me too that some fabric like material can damage metal. Then again, I'm not a chemist, physicist, nor an engineer. I'm just some keyboard jockey who likes legos, puppies, football, and all y'all's company, haha

I am in Canada and dealer doesn't have anything from Ford saying on how to fix it(just have info about the recall coming). Ford will release the info on 17th of January.

If you use the link in post #50 to the NHTSA site, it has the repair instructions. Canadian process for recalls is I’m sure different but most likely the actual repair instructions for dealers is going to be the same as Stateside.

It's a little humorous to me how something quite simple like this is approached in this modern and incredibly sophisticated Era, compared to how it might have been if these were 1975 F150's.

Afterall, they had lifts at the dealership. The tech back then was a mechanic. ? He'd throw the truck up in the air to get a good look at the situation, and then something like "ahhh, I see what's going on here. Looks like them boys at the factory didn't think this through all the way. I know what will fix this for you sir. Give me a few minutes and I'll have you back on the road"

That mechanic would be stunned that he had to deal with a bunch of red-tape and not be allowed to FIX it, but rather have to wait until a very specific 25¢ plastic rivet and a dab of silicone was shipped a month later.

We live in remarkable times. And I wouldn't go back because this new truck is AMAZING. I love it. But mines not going to be a hostage to this red tape silliness. That picture above of just ONE proper fix was all I needed to see. Lol

Mine (Jan 21 Build) fell down and hit the drive shat. Extremely obvious noise, I did not get 20 feet before I pulled over. Very loud noise like a huge card in a giant bicycle wheel. would be impossible to miss. Had it fixed a few months ago. Do not see the recall showing up on my Ford Pass app.

Hey! Are you currently waiting to purchase or do you have yours and Jan 17th is when they have said they will have info for you?
We are currently in the middle of a purchase and also in Canada so wondering if it will be further delayed…..

I already have my truck. They just told me Ford Canada would give them the info on how to fix the issue. On my paper work it says is Advanced Notice. Not sure what that means.
