Yup…,, you’re old.I've drilled a small hole in the lowest part of the muffler on every vehicle I've owned in the past 50 years. Drainage hole insures there is no water in the muffler. Have you observed some vehicles pouring a lot of condensation from their exhaust pipe when pulling away from a stop light? This tiny hole will prevent that. I've never had to replace a muffler. I can't believe I just revealed my age.
How long did it take for your repair parts to arrive? Sale of my new F150 got held up last Tuesday with this recall. Dealer won't give a straight answer on when they expect the repair kit to arrive.Repair parts are in, dealer is hoping to have it completed tomorrow. Mine only needs the insulators secured though - it’s brand new so no issue with the drive shaft.
It took 6 days for most of the parts to come in (parts were ordered 12/21 and arrived 12/27) but the Christmas holiday was in the middle. How long did it take for your repair parts to arrive? Have you gotten any more info from your dealer? Has your truck been fixed and delivered yet?It took 6 days for most of the parts to come in (parts were ordered 12/21 and arrived 12/27) but the Christmas holiday was in the middle.
Dealer was still missing one part needed to complete the repair as of 2pm yesterday. We’re in southeast Michigan a stones throw from the Dearborn plant, so your mileage may vary on parts timing.
Our dealer wasn’t able to give a firm timeframe either, but they ordered the parts for several trucks as soon as the recall paperwork came in. He told me on 12/21 that I probably would not have the truck until after Christmas.
Hopefully Ford has their ducks in a row with parts in January when the recall letters go out.
Yes - dealer called and gave me an update first thing this morning. They now have all the parts in to fix my truck and one other one that got held up by the recall. They were missing the anti-corrosion coating that gets applied to the rivets but got that yesterday. It was not readily available through their parts channel but they got it from another dealer.Have you gotten any more info from your dealer? Has your truck been fixed and delivered yet?
that would explain why i didn't get a notice. Wondering if the recall includes the loose square piece stuck underneath the box above the axleMaybe this was posted earlier, don't recall seeing it. Looks like it doesn't affect 157" wb...

That is really frustrating. Can’t think of a reason for the repair directions to be different from the actual truck. There’s only one model year to be fixed. At least you’re getting straight answers from your dealership. I’m guessing they are as frustrated as you to have a sale held up.Yes - dealer called and gave me an update first thing this morning. No - the truck has not been fixed yet. They went to do the repair yesterday and found the repair instructions were not consistent with what was installed under the truck. They are waiting on a clarification from Ford - my truck is the first one that the dealer has worked on for this recall. Many people in Ford engineering are on vacation currently, so the communication process is even slower than normal. They will do my truck as soon as they have updated instructions.
They are getting a ton of calls to schedule inspections for other affected vehicles. Frustrating, but I'm confident he is not BS'ing me.
Don’t like to hear that!Update on mine: Just spoke with the parts department at the dealer. They say that the needed parts are "backordered" with "no ETA".
They sorted it out and I picked it up this afternoon. The confusion on the repair was that one figure showed the two insulators from the top, another figure was from the bottom and the service department wanted to be 100% sure they were drilling the holes on the proper sides. That is really frustrating. Nice! Glad that you were able to get it taken care of. This recall is holding up my sale (since last Tuesday), so hopefully they can get things straightened out soon. They sorted it out and I picked it up this afternoon. Dealer was able to get parts expedited for my truck and one other because they were in the process of being sold. Those were the only two they have done the repair on. They have 6 more in transit they they can’t get parts for yet. I’m happy though.
