I was playing with ForScan this weekend.
Changed battery SoC, disable ASS.
Before starting anything, and I mean before plugging the adaptor int the pc, on my way for my morning coffee, I got the “rear brake assist unavailable“ message.

While playing with ForScan, I looked for DTCs stored or active and there were none.

Anyone got an idea why this thing quit working? I hate the message in the IC and even if I shut it off in settings, a different message appears. Not that I ever depend on this as I don’t think it has activated more than 5 times since I’ve had the truck, and that was due to a rather quick approach to an obstacle I was fully aware of.

might this be a center stack reset, or is it deeper.
(never off pavement except for my yard, nothing wiring related fiddled with at all, did lower the rear over a year ago.)

I get this same message, but I have a construction shell with the camera at the top and no tailgate. I'm guessing you may have an alignment issue, but I have no idea how you might be able to adjust it.

I get this same warning message off and on periodically, so I'd be extremely grateful to anyone who can tell me what causes it and how to fix the issue.

I've had it a couple times before and figured out what was causing it in my situation: I turned the parking sensor alarms off when I was going through a carwash, as my truck has the 360 camera package and it always pops up thinking I'm being crashed into from all angles, but then I drive home and reverse into a parking space and that same message pops up, and I figure out that it'll go away if i press that same toggle to turn it back on when the revers camera is up.

I’m now wondering if the battery was low.
did some exploring over the weekend so the key was in run position a long time. I usually drive the ElCamino on my days off, or the old k1500.
So 5 days I took off last week, the truck never left the driveway.
At any rate, brake assist message did not show up today.
