I was considering a RANGER LARIAT with FX4, black pkg, and the 2.7. About 58K with a few other options. Currently looking at F-150 as my next vehicle. For a couple thousand more I can get a full size with the same options with the current discounts. Not sure who in Ford came up with the Ranger pricing but it’s stupid ridiculous. I think it’s a lost opportunity for Ford but what else is new. I was looking at the size for my garage but I will figure it out with a full size.

I had a 2020 Ranger before trading it in on a 2021 F150.
We have been going to Salt Lake since 2018 for medical treatment. The hotel we always stay at and the hospital both have parking garages. The Ranger was a lot easier to park. Also, our two car garage must have been designed for Pintos. I have glued foam paddling on the concrete so I can get out without bunging up the door. I have a small dent on the other side from my granddaughter not noticing how close grandma’s car was to the truck.
The reason I got rid of it was because my wife hated how it rode going to Salt Lake.
The smaller trucks definitely serve a purpose!

I always chuckle a little when I see a grown man driving a ranger. Wild to think a truck you would want to buy for a high schooler is now 50k.
Why? You do you and they do whatever too.

Agreed! I see a few Rangers around. Usually folks who might be similar to the Taco crowd: 0-1 kids, outdoorsy, might not have a garage.
I looked at similar sized truck (canyon) and the interior just wasn’t big enough (2 kids + lab) but it was easier to park, for sure!
In the end: to each their own!

If anyone’s REALLY curious why someone else buys a Ranger, why not simply ask on a Ranger forum/Reddit??
I had a 2022 Ranger and I got it for the price and MPG. I used it as a daily driver and trips to the dump or Lowe’s. At the time I had no need for a full size truck. I had several guys sarcastically say “Hey nice truck” when they got out of their super clean F-250. You do get judged for driving a small truck, wonder what Maverick drivers hear.

I have a F150 now because I got it less than another Ranger. Still using it as a daily driver with trips to the dump and Lowe’s. Still being judged by guys driving F-250s lol

A good dealer near me, where I know these prices are legit:

Ford F-150 Rangers are EXPENSIVE! 1731426557518-i6

Ford F-150 Rangers are EXPENSIVE! 1731426606695-d

I love Rangers, but they are a tough buy against a discounted F-150.

Atlanta dealers have F-150s for up to $18k off. $13-15k discounts by just walking in the door.

Size wise they kinda did with the Maverick. However, Maverick is a unibody not body on frame. I think the crazy success of the Mav, shows that there was always a hunger for the old sized small trucks.

I loved the old Rangers. My best friend growing up got an '87 Ranger that we modded the hell out of in high school. Almost everything I learned about cars/trucks came from the work we did on that (and my POS 1987 Ford Tempo - worst vehicle of the 80s, at least for Ford).
I had a Maverick when they first came out and loved it, but even these are starting to get pricey with the redesign and new price increases. Kinda crazy that you actually have more legroom in the backseat of a Maverick than you do a Ranger though...

I think the early mavericks look much better, especially the '70-'72's with small bumpers.

There's so much you can only do to a truck's frame compared to a unibody vehicle's frame, leg, and headroom.

Other than wanting a slightly smaller vehicle, I don't really get the appeal of the ranger either. It has about the same curb weight as my STX crew cab F-150. Both 2.3 and 2.7 ecoboost engines in the ranger seem to get the same MPG as my 2.7 ecoboost. So the MPG argument doesn't really stand either. Just my thoughts...

I had a union carpenter working on one of my projects back in 2018 in Boston and he was bragging about his then new loaded Ford 4 door F-150 trying to get a jealous reaction from me because I drove a 2014 Ford RCLB XL with basic options which was a company issued truck. I asked him how much he was paying for gas and he probably said $100 per a week. Then I asked him how much she paid for taxes and he told me a lot. Then I asked him how much he paid for the truck and I think he told me $65,000. Then I asked him what he thought my truck cost and he looked at me and asked me how much. I said zero dollars for the truck, zero taxes for me, and I don't pay for the fuel either. The look on his face was priceless.?.

Interestingly, I parked right next to a bone stock late 90's Silverado at the store and I was pretty amazed how much smaller it was than my F150. Trucks have grown in size tremendously in the past couple decades. I had several Dakota's which were quite a bit bigger than my Hardbody Frontier in the 90's and a modern midsize truck dwarfs a Dakota now. I think the success of the Maverick has the manufactures rethinking their marketing. Saw a rumor that Chevy was going to come out with a new El Camino... which is one of my favorite all-time vehicles.
