Yesterday when I started up my 2020 F150 Limited with the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost With High Output motor, the little wrench on the dash lit up. Brought up my Ford Pass app and it says the system has detected a powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault, although it seems to be running fine/normally. When I started it up this morning, the wrench was not there and no new messages in FordPass.
Anyone seen this before or have any ideas what the issue could be?
Thanks

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I experienced this same error on Monday. On my drive in to the office, I noticed the truck would not go into electric only mode. (Mine is a PB)
That afternoon, I saw a dashboard error, the yellow wrench and then received the same message via the Ford App.
I left the truck in the driveway and have not touched it.
This afternoon (Wednesday), as I went to put the truck in the garage, the error was gone and the truck operated in electric only mode.
I have an appointment in the morning with the dealer. We will see if the error happens again between now and then.

Note from the dealer after inspection.
Ran self test, found code p0A1E.
Ran oasis and found no known.
Performed ppt g. 1. No 2. Yes 3. Yes 4. No 5. No
Disconnected and reconnected main and aux batteries, performed BMS reset, cleared codes. Test drive and retest.
Ppt stated likely faulty connection at batteries.

Truck started on electric motor. Once ice started, electric would not kick back in.

Scheduled another service in a week.

While driving today, things seemed mostly normal. I thought electric mode should have kicked in more than it did, but things were working.
After about an hour, I received the same fault error.
The truck would no longer go into electric.
I turned it off, waited a few minutes and then turned it back on.
Wrench cleared and truck went back to operating as normal.
Definitely something transient.
The service manager is going to have one of his supervisors look at it when I have the time to bring it back.

Thank you to the people here at this forum.
By reading and researching through the various posts, I was able to locate the information needed for the dealer to diagnose my issues and get the truck fixed.

As we a few other members with a Powerboost that would not always go into electric mode, my motor/generator/alternator needed replacement. The dealer has had the truck about a week. I should get it back tomorrow or early next week.
The part was back ordered but they found one at a different dealer.

PPEng15, I am having similar issues. Can you report how your repair went, parts replaced, and did it resolve the issue?

I've also seen threads that reported the shifter module was causing this same repeating fault. TIA

The replacement of my BISG was straight forward. It took the dealer a couple of days to get the part.
Dropped the truck on Monday, picked it up later in the week. I did have to take it in twice to get the correct diagnosis, but that was the only issue.

My MIL's truck, 2024 5.0 V-8, had the same error message but had the gear shift lever, RL3Z 7210 DC, replaced by the same dealer. Took a couple of days. From what I can tell, no issues with her's either.

Neither one of us have had an issue since.

Good luck. Unfortunately that error message can mean wildly different things from what I have seen.

Back from Ford today. They replace the shifter module (I think) and did a software update to fix the powertrain fault error that kept coming up. Apparently there is now a technical service bulletin for it now. So far, so good. We shall see.

Good news is even though they updated a bunch of modules, my ForScan changes seem to remain intact.

I am looking forward to not having to dismiss that message every time I start my truck!
