So, the 21 PB is in the shop with Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power.

It has had this a month ago and was reset with could not duplicate.
Now since yesterday it will reproduce the issue for them but they don’t have an answer yet.

Who has experienced this and what was the outcome?

Code readers are dirt cheap and are your best friend. $20, fits in one of the glove boxes, immediately answers this question.

I did scan the code with Forscan. Can’t remember the exact code but said EV/ battery isolation fault. There’s a bunch of freeze frame data that probably means something to a Ford tech.

Truck is still at the dealer. They have the exhaust off to gain access to check connections. So far no problems found.
They tell me now waiting on Ford to give them direction based on the data they have captured during the last event fault.

This truck is only 4 months old to me with 20,000 miles. Starting to miss it and worry about my extended warranty (not Ford ESP) covering the issue since it’s outside of 3yrs. Really hoping Ford will pick up if it is part of the hybrid system.

Truck still at the dealer. It has been a week today. Yesterday the dealer tells me they did not find an issue and Ford is having them just reassemble it to give it back to me.

We all know taking it apart and putting it back together fixes problems... NOT!.. It will be just time until the problem happens again. So frustrating..

Not sure anyone is reading my posts. This is as much for me to vent at this point.
I guess Ford is now having the dealer update modules manually to try and solve the issue..

Truck still at the dealer. They hope to have the updates done Monday late.

The truck was returned to me with all modules updated and tested yesterday.

Now I have steering assist faults happening and the original issue happened again.

I’ll be returning it to the dealer today…

The truck remains at the dealer. Replacing the steering rack (not the original problem)

They still do not have a diagnosis of the original issue. They tell me Ford support is not helping and they are stuck.
Does this mean this cannot be fixed? What happens then? Come on dealer/Ford this has to be solvable somehow. There is some definite part failure somewhere.

Ford if you read this, please help my dealer!

Keep bringing it back to the dealer. Keep talking to Ford on the case the bot hopefully opened for you. Request a buyback. Check your states lemon law and use that if applicable. Push Ford to give you a free ESP. I’ve had a similar experience detailed here for what is probably a different issue and that is the best advice I can offer.

Thank you for listening! I do have a case open with Ford. They have declined a buyback as it does not qualify for my state. Missed it by a few months and a couple thousand miles.

I wish the dealers knew more about these issues and how to diagnose them.
I have an extended 3rd party warranty. Do you think Ford will give me a Ford ESP?

they gave me one so i would try. there is a trick to it though. you have to confirm your repair was completed and you have your vehicle back. only then will they give you an esp for piece of mind. i made the mistake of telling them i got it back and it was already in the shop again which delayed the process

A high voltage isolation fault means that the HV system on your truck is shorting to the low voltage circuits in your truck. If this issue is real and not just a false code, the source of the problem will be one of the HV cables or one of the HV components.
