I love the 5.0 engine. What I don't like is the throttle mapping Ford programmed. Mushy pedal, slow to respond, screaming RPM when you finally floor it, etc. Sport mode helped, but it kept RPM's high too long.

Just got a Banks Pedal Monster and wow, difference is night and day. The truck feels completely different. I know "it doesn't give you any more power"...True, but it gives you way more enjoyment while driving. It kills pedal lag, removes the mushy throttle feeling, and in my opinion makes it safer when you have to accelerate in an instant to avoid something.

I got the Pedal Monster because it runs off of the OBD port for power, not just the pedal circuit like the Pedal Commander does. If the Pedal Monster fails, it reverts to stock. If Pedal Commander fails, you have no gas pedal. I also like that it keeps my reverse stock as a safety feature.

At any rate, I know people are skeptical about these things but I am a believer. Modern day throttle mapping sucks because of regulation, this fixes that.

Must be a 5 ohhhh problem. In normal mode and a wet street, the cruise control resuming set speed from a stop consistently breaks traction in 2h. They break traction far more than people realize, in just 4k miles my rear tires have lost 1/32nd of their tread while not having the TOD TC in it. Back to 4a usage in all but highway cruising.

Poor initial software on ford's part combined with general ignorance. A small percentage of initial vehicles, particularly around the launch of the 23MYs (though not exclusively) caused reputational damage. All of the issues were patched and people haven't come to accept that a vehicle's perceived shortcomings can magically be resolved via OTA. Most of the issues come back to the one component shared by all of the trucks initially, poor AGM 12v battery management.

Will this void any warranties?
You will get many answers to this but most-likely no. All the product does is increase the voltage signal coming out of the gas pedal. The ECU doesn't know it's there. I talked to Banks and they said there is literally no footprint of the Pedal Commander ever being hooked up. Best practice is to remove before taking in for service though. It's only 2 plugs and very easy to take out quickly.

I think the Pedal Monster better than Pedal Commander. It has built in safey bypasses so that if it were to malfunction your stock pedal would still work. Pedal Commander doesn't have that and people have completely lost their gas pedal. Also, Pedal Monster keeps reverse stock unlike Pedal Commander.

I've ran a Pedal Commander for nearly 2 years on my 5.0.

Have to agree, total improvement for the driving experience and a great mod.

Also agree on the Pedal Monster over the Pedal Commander. I just placed an order for the Banks unit to replace the Pedal Commander. I've lost the Pedal probably a dozen times since installing it. I actually have disengaged it as I found during the winter it's worse when heat is turned on. While you don't entirely lose the Pedal, you do lose nearly 90% of it.

Which model did you order?

So, call me ignorant, but can't you just give it more throttle to achieve the same thing? I'm used to low-end torque, so I've never considered such a thing.

Significant difference in pedal response and feel. You can make the truck wake up much quicker with less of a touch. Feels faster, while not actually being any faster.
Takes the slop out of the pedal. Hard to explain without experiencing it.

Pairs really well with a tune for sequential shifting.

Yes, all it does is change the throttle curve. Basically an assist for those who can't/won't fully depress the pedal. I love watching reaction videos from people acting like it's adding power, it's just changing the throttle curve. People should just try pressing the throttle down ?‍♂

Just say no to mushy pedals and eco mode sucks ?

Nope, your foot can't emulate what Pedal Monster does. Banks does a quick demo that shows how it works:

Has anyone compared the fuel economy before and after installing the pedal monster?

I really haven't done any scientific testing but it's pretty much the same. To get up to speed stock you gotta go deep into the throttle but with Pedal Monster you barely apply pressure and it more or less comes out the same.

The instant throttle response does make giving it the beans a lot of funner/more satisfying so you can lose MPG if you are falling victim to the instant gratification that it brings.

@TacoJon, or any other owners, what did you mount your box to under the dash?
