Hopefully the dealer tech reported the issue. Which headlights/trim level?
21 lariat with quad LEDs. Originally took it in for low battery/Deep Sleep. They updated BCM.

I never had an issue with starting, but approach lighting and interior lights would not operate without truck running. Also no app functions.

yup, mine too...no radio, etc.

But to also note, I left truck at airport for 8 days while I was in Mexico, and only drive 5-10 minutes back and forth to home. So may have taken some driving to get it back to normal voltage.

Forgive my ignorance but I don't know what a BCM is, but my 21 lariat 502A will randomly have the 'greeting' lights, interior dome lights no work, and the passenger door intelligent access does not work, and I am unable to remote start from the Ford Pass app. Are these all issues you guys are seeing? Any solution found? I know I cannot rely on my dealership as they have proven time and time again to be incompetent.

If I had to guess your truck is experienced a 12V battery SOC (state of charge) issue where it's operating at the borderline threshold for what the BMS (battery management system) considers necessary for all the features.

A nicely equipped Gen14 truck can tax a 12V battery, especially if the truck gets driven lightly.

From what I have read the past couple of days I think you are spot on with the battery soc being the issue. Do you know of a remedy for this issue? I haven't read of anything that people have found to fix it. I have read of some getting their battery replaced only to have the issue continue. (Also, I do think I fit the bill for driving lightly, only about 13 miles to and from work for the majority of my driving)

A couple of things you can do if you verify that your battery isn't above 12.3V just sitting out in the driveway.

First, get a decent smart charger and let it take that AGM battery through all 5 or 6 stages of fully charging the battery. Be sure you hook the charger up properly in regards to the battery management sensor near the negative post.

Then edit with Forscan the factory value for charging. There's a debate on why Ford has it set to 80%, but nobody really knows, in my opinion. You can raise it 90 or 95% with the hope that the Battery Management System will increase the charging when the truck is in use.

Then just check the battery with a meter for a few days and see if it is now staying above 12.3V overnight. These trucks act like Jekyll/Hyde electronically if the battery isn't higher than that.

In the old days we thought the battery was healthy if it could turn the starter over. Not any more! ??

Snake bitten, thank you so much for the information! I'll try to find someone near me that can help me with forscan (if there is anyone in the SLC, UT area that has forscan please feel free to reach out to me).
But I have one more question... If I don't get the forscan modifications made, and my battery continues to run at that "borderline" soc, can that cause any other problems with my computer or electrical systems?

I don't think it necessarily damages anything, but the ownership experience is a bit frustrating. It's so unpredictable and you lose trust. It can certainly steal your new truck joy. :)

This is a very popular charger with the fellas on the forum: It's a good value equation for sure.

Clore Automotive PL2320 20-Amp Fully-Automatic Smart Charger, 6V and 12V Battery Charger, Battery Maintainer, and Stable Power Supply with Temperature Compensation https://a.co/d/93jRV2D

There are others, of course, and some are designed to be permanently mounted under the hood (small form factor) and you just plug them in and trickle charge if you think you might be letting the truck sit a few days.

The Forscan edit is really straight forward and only takes a few seconds. If you aren't up to dipping your toes into the Forscan world, maybe you WILL find someone nearby that can up your charge rate.

Good luck!

You are awesome snakebitten! Thank you so much! I guess I can cancel my appointment to the dealership as their solution is to replace the door handle ???.
Thanks again!
