I don't recall who posted it, but the NOCO charger will go back to the first charging step on the 4 segment LED progress bar if it detected any voltage fluctuation. Did you open a door, hood, or even walk past with your keys? That may have triggered it too go back to the initial charge step and make it look like nothing happened.

Do you sleep? Just curious.

Also, I cannot see that on a non-powerboost the difference in charging with hvac 5+. I can turn the hvac off and it still maintains the 12v system at 14.5v+.
I promise I do sleep!

But I work for an industry that is 24/7/365 and I am always "on the grid", so to speak. That requires me to have monitoring tools up and running no matter where I am at or what I am doing.

So it kinda makes sense that I always have a screen or 2 around me and the forum(s) share some of the screen real estate. It's nothing more than multi-tasking. For 25+ years now.

I have the Michigan-Ohio State game playing on one screen (just ended), another screen on some corporate network monitoring tools, the forum on my smartphone, and my granddaughter in my lap playing Super Mario kart on a tablet.

If she wants my undivided attention, she says "Pawpaw, don't work", when I reach for the phone.
I almost always put it down at her request. ?

So there you have it. My ridiculous post count is really just a parallel of the amount of time I spend monitoring a corporate network.
The good news is that I can do it from anywhere in the world, so arguably I am a free man. Or, I am a prisoner. Depends on perspective. Lol

I use my NOCO 10A charger pretty regularly, and I agree with your statement. If I go to get something out of the truck and if I leave the door open for more than just a few seconds - or worse, actually turned the ignition to ON ?, then it's like the NOCO sort of starts its process over again.

Well, I connect it to the battery and close the hood for the night and next day I have to open the doors to open the hood so the answer is yes! Do I need a voltage tester now? I remember @Snakebitten showed this BT voltage meter. Is that something that would prove useful here?

I figured based on what you do. I was just posting in jest. While I’m not a 24/7/365 industry, I am management so I don’t always get to unplug (much to my wife’s chagrin). Your forum participation is appreciated by me and others. I always appreciate your perspective.

Thanks for the kind words.
I know I risk being a busy body participating so much. :)

One thing for sure though is I do learn a ton about these trucks. You couldn't help but do so if you digest almost every post ever made. Helps to be a lifelong car/truck/motorcycle nerd.

I have learned a whole lot since being involved in this forum and I appreciate all the input that’s been shared since before I placed my order on 4/13/22.

A decent multimeter is very useful when used properly.
I recommend having one. In my career field they’re more useful than a screwdriver and far less dangerous lol.

You’re Air Force, you’ve obviously not been in the navy. Any tool is dangerous. ??

Another reason I really like the Bluetooth voltage meter. I don't have to disturb or awaken the truck to get a reading. And no chance of interrupting the smart charger's charging strategy.

I simply read the voltage that is currently representative of what's going on under that hood.

? As soon as I posted that I thought “Better yet, just keep your hands in your pockets and let’s think about this Airman.”

Yeah. I don't know how feasible it is, but you could also either leave the hood up while it charges, or have the charging unit outside the engine compartment so you could walk up and see the display. If you don't go the BT voltage monitor route, if you have a regular multimeter, just measure voltage before/after charging.

For tonight I am just leaving the charger outside the engine compartment but I am also getting that BT voltage meter as I do a lot of short distance driving and need to stay on top of the 12V battery. Is there a threshold when one should attempt charging this battery?
