I get my filters from NAPA. I do oil analysis. I've found that the oil is good for about 12,000 miles. Either TBN or Boron seem to be depleted shortly after that. Changing oil before necessary is just tossing money.

Every driving habit and condition is different. I am sure your results can't be applied across the board. For me it's an extra $50.00/yr for an extra oil change. There are lot of YT videos by credible shops, across many brands, advising people to change their oil every 5000miles if they want their engines to make it passed the warranty period.

My local dealer uses Zak Oil Booster. My first oil change was free and they used it. I don’t know if actually did anything but I do my own oil changes after the first one without snake oil products.

My experience is that oil analysis drives the changes. Those with a different use of the truck would see it in the analysis results and interval You're not thinking this through.

Even people like Lake Speed Jr, who owns an operates Speed Diagnostics, he highly recommend recommends a 5K oil change for these engine engines

Even using AMSOIL SS, there is no way I would take this engine past 5K

And just one thing to note, you run an oil change past 10k and you have an issue, Ford can & will void your warranty for neglect

I'm not going to get in the middle of when you should change your oil argument, but if an owner is following FORD's oil change recommendation, how can they void your warranty?

On the Gen 14 (2022 PB) does the air flow for the filter point up or down? When I replaced mine I first took out the old filter and did not notice any air flow direction arrow. But when I went to put the new one in I did see that arrow, but did not know the airflow. In the manual it does not say.

Anyone know this or does it not really matter. Thanks!

I do believe you missed the word PAST
This comment was driven about a member who stated they did oil analysis and stated that the analysis showed oil good beyond 12k

Unless I’m having a problem with math today, 12,000 is higher than 10,000

Am I missing something?

Are you asking about the cabin air filter?

If so, the airflow is down, arrows need to point downward.

Check the previous filter, the dirty side is the air inlet.

Yeah I thought of that but at the time the old one was really clean as a whistle. I do not drive much now that I work from home and it really did not need changing, but I bought a new one and did it anyway, just out of habit.

What ones are you all buying? The last one I bought was the Ford one (
Motorcraft - FP-92 FP92)
but see all kinds of ones on Amazon with carbon in them. I would assume those are better?
