I purchased a new 2024 F-150 King Ranch on 9/16 that I special ordered in April from @Granger Ford in IA. I had the vehicle shipped to my house in WV and shortly after getting it I discovered numerous paint defects from the factory. The top of the cab has dirt/bubbles in the sealant along the channels causing the paint to peel, there are areas that weren’t painted on the top along the channels, the fuel door has paint issues, the tailgate has transparent spots in the paint in numerous spots, the back of the bed between the cab wasn’t painted, there’s a blob of something that was painted over on the wheel well, the passenger side front seat leather is peeling, and the frame for the seat cushion on the same seat is bent. When it was delivered I found a screw on the passenger side rear wheel well rock guard barely threaded into the speed nut. I took it to a dealership to get the seat checked out and when comparing my truck to new trucks on the lot I’m seeing that their trucks are painted in the areas that mine isn’t. I’ve contacted Ford and the selling dealership. They want me to go to local dealerships to get estimates for warranty claims. I’ve been to three dealerships and two independent shops to get estimates or trying to file warranty claims. The local Ford body shops can’t get to the paint work until January-February of next year due to a backlog of recall work on Ford Escape’s. One dealership told me that they wouldn’t do warranty work on my truck because I didn’t purchase it from them. This purchase has been a nightmare and I regret ever ordering it. If you order a truck inspect it in person and don’t complete the paperwork until you’ve done so. Granger hasn’t done anything to help me out with these issues. I’ve emailed, called, and left messages for Zach, but he won’t respond.

You clearly have a few quality escapes that need to be addressed. Like you, I purchased my truck unseen, from a distant dealership. As they had the one I wanted. I too have a couple of flaws. There is a gouge in the pax front window that looks like it happened when removing the window sticker. Needs a window. While the paint is pretty good, there are other issues.

I looked my truck over carefully, but it was raining and I missed some items.

It is a good idea to crawl under too, and remove loose clip nuts.

One truck I looked at had the tops of both RH doors above the windows, inset by 3/8+ inch, yet the bottom seams were fine. That was a really weird one, as it stood out badly.

That's absolutely disgusting to see, man!

They must own up to that severely overlooked QC mistake(s), replace it STAT, and get a lawyer ASAP!

Mine was obviously buffed before I received it too. There was splatter inside of the bed and on the side of the tailgate. I’ve found a lot of dirt nibs in the paint on the driver’s side rear door, the hood, the passenger side front fender, and on the top of the cab. I reviewed the pictures from when the transporter picked up the truck and the buffing compound was already in the bed of the truck. I have a bunch of photos, but the website keeps reloading when I try to upload them.

Granger hasn’t stepped up to do anything. Chip had me getting estimates from independent shops and said that they’d pay a shop to fix it, but then came back and said that it needs to be a warranty claim. Zach won’t respond to me and his pre-canned email that he sent me after purchase states that I should contact Shelby if I can’t get ahold of him. I called her about the issues and her response was, “that’s not my job”. I’ve saved all of the emails and photos. Ford sent me a survey that I’ll be filling out this week. I’ve taken two days off from work in the past 10 days to go to dealerships for warranty claims that haven’t been approved by Ford. Chip told me in an email that they received another truck that’s the same color as mine with similar issues last week. Hopefully that buyer isn’t dealing with this too.

I saw that. It was my guess some sections had been repainted.

Hey there. Could you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage? I would like to take a closer look into your paint concerns to see what I can do to assist!

Yikes, can't believe the granger was all too happy to just ship that to you like that. There's zero excuse for them to not fully inspect vehicles especially before shipping out of state, let alone have a buyer fly in to pick up a vehicle.

Varying degrees of orange peel too -- must have been real bad if they'd already taken a buffer to it. Feel for you. Granger just ignoring you too is pure shit. They'll get away with whatever you allow them to.

Chip told me that I should have flown in to pick it up myself instead of having it shipped. My response to him was if I flew in to pick up this truck in this condition I’d be leaving without it and I’d be pissed. You’re right, they failed to properly inspect it and don’t want to take the blame for it. I’ve contacted Ford customer service and the truck team. The truck team told me that Granger can request a replacement truck within 90 days of delivery. I’ve asked Chip about this more than once in emails and he’s avoided answering the question.

That's because they'd have to sell it and it's easier to just ignore you. Wow

Usually any mention of Granger here is positive. My experience with them wasn't great, but my perception of it was maybe colored because I was having a particularly bad day that day, and the minor stuff that happened with them just topped it off. I called to ask about getting a price on a particular configuration of truck, and the sales lady I talked to wanted to first make sure the 4% below invoice applied in this case. That sounds like good policy, that way she could avoid telling me something incorrect and having to backtrack. She was supposed to call me back a bit later and let me know. I didn't hear from her, so the next day at about noon I called her back and she told me yesterday afternoon was crazy and she didn't get to it. I guess the next morning was crazy too, though she didn't mention that. In any case, she tried to transfer me to someone else to give me specific information on a price, and I got (I'm sure accidentally) disconnected. I was driving at the time and I wasn't going to pull over to call them back, ask for her, and tell her I got disconnected. I was just discouraged and done with it. I never called them back. I had previously sent an email to the address they say to send requests for a quote to, and I never heard back. That's why I called in the first place. I know the second time of getting nowhere was not really lack of caring on their part, I just got a bad feeling about the whole thing. It started to seem like a situation where I'm trying to give you money and you're running screaming from it. I have a ram truck now that's giving me so much trouble that I'll likely end up having it bought back, and I was gonna try again for a '24 rcsb 4x4, but now I'm thinking if this happens maybe I should just keep driving my '96 blazer that's paid for and keep the extra money in the bank.
