Mysterious windshield feature

i saw that post too, at first i thought it was the rain sensor housing but when i looked closer i noticed that its to the right of the center mirror cover. i looked up different types of windshields but non of them had this housing. at this point i think that its for some sort of dashcam which was deleted in this case. @Jesse-Infotainment any ideas?

thats what I’m starting to think too. Maybe a deleted option for factory installed dashcam

The odd part is the copper-looking clip that almost looks like it could attach to an embedded antenna coil within the plastic. Could have also been an earlier design of a smaller TCU. If it's still part of windshields today then it's likely for a part that's just not widespread. Not like ford to give away 'free' parts for this long without an explicit purpose.

That copper clip appears to be a U clip. Looks like something clips into it and get a single screw where the U clip is. Also thought about a in cabin camera but i feel like the view would be blocked by the mirror.

That's what's odd -- have you seen a similar clip anywhere in the vehicle? They all appear to be tin coated.

Pretty sure that is where my rain sensor is. Pretty hard to tell with that photo.

the highlighted button is for an auxiliary camera.

So close, yet still so far! At this point I'm thinking it must be a deleted feature given that they've removed it from the related parts list

Looking at other models for a 19J part number was unfruitful, however, there's a 19J part number in the lightning around the windshield that's a dead end..

I'm tempted at this point to call a dealership parts dept and ask them to look up that base part number
