I have a persistent rattle somewhere in my dashboard that is driving me up a wall. I have considered taking it to a dealer but have no idea what the timeframe would be getting it diagnosed and sorted. Thought I’d attempt to find it myself first. To me it sounds like it is coming from near the windshield defrost trim panel or HUD. If anyone has experienced something similar and found a solution, I’d appreciate any advice you may have.

I'm sure this isn't your issue however my friend had a mystery Nosie that took half a dozen visits, a nasty gram to the Mfg's Q.C. and threat of legal action. Dealer was told to do what ever it takes to eliminate this noise. Long story short, once they cut the rocker panel open, they discovered a band aid box with a marble in it along with the note "you finally found me!"

Can't hurt to empty the glove box to eliminate the possibility it's something inside causing the noise.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
put your fingers up between the windshield and trim. I assume you know the general area. That is the low hanging fruit. Otherwise pop off the trim underneath then reach up and start searching for something that is loose. It could be a beer bottle or a connector mounting point that came loose.

Do not attempt this until you have sharpened up you language a little. Don't concentrate on a single word. One typically needs variety for these issues.
