Never figured it out unfortunately. I think it got better as it’s warmed up out. That or the AC is up and just can’t hear it. Either way I’ve learned to live with it
Just talked to my dealer, they were able to find the noise and apparently there was “loose hardware inside door panel” only time will tell if they actually fixed it. Hope this helps. God bless.

Did they give any specifics on what hardware was loose? Mine sounds like metal tapping, like something is loose. To me it seems to be inside the door, maybe the latch mechanism. The dealer hasn’t been any help so I may take the door apart myself.

So the “loose hardware” did not in fact fix anything. After several attempts of taking my door panel off myself, it turned out to be the black door hinge. I noticed the similar metal tapping sound when I opened and closed my door. I didn’t have nothing else to try, so I got some white lithium grease spray, sprayed the hell out of it. And no more noise. I was utterly shocked. Hope this helps. Peace

For anyone who is still experiencing this, check the weatherstrip that’s connected to the rear door and “bridges” the gap between the front and rear door when they’re both closed. If you look at it, you’ll see that there are four retainer clips that hold it in place on the rear door. Mine were super loose for whatever reason (slot too large maybe).

When I wiggled the weatherstrip piece I was able to recreate the plastic on metal tapping noise that I was hearing over bumps. So here’s what I did:
  • Remove the four circular retainers with a fastener remover and remove the thinner retainers behind the rubber weatherstrip (these are super fragile and I ended up just having to break them off and cleaned out the pieces that fell into the rear door by removing the panel and vacuuming them out)
  • You’re probably going to have to replace all the retainers, so you can find them using the links above
  • After the retainers are removed the entire weatherstrip will come off. From there I lined the entire plastic piece that rests against the door with harness tape (same tape used for the triangular mirror trim piece rattle)
  • I also wrapped the four connecting arms on the weatherstrip piece with the harness tape and poked holes in the covered retainer slots so the clips can go through
  • Finally, I inserted a piece of harness tape into each of the four slots inside the door so the clips would secure more tightly
  • I reconnected the piece with each clip and made sure to hit the four circular clips with a mallet to get them as tightly secured as possible
Doing all this ensured that the piece was tightly secured with no movement and no piece of plastic was resting against metal without harness tape in between, and I haven’t heard the metallic rattle/tapping noise since. Hope this helps if you can’t figure out your noise.

I had this similar rattle. It was the trim piece front and center of the door. I popped it out and popped it back in and it went away. Just some metal clips holding it in. (sorry for the crappy pick, surprisingly hard to find a picture of the whole door inside on google.)

Did the rattle change in pitch or volume by folding the mirror in and out? I've had a rattle in that area sometimes at highway speeds since my truck was new. I could fold the mirror in and it would subside. It sounded like it was in the mirror, but that panel is right there too.

Issue still fixed? I have the same crappy noise as the original posters video and have taken the door panel off 4-5x without finding a cause.
