Yeah, I was admittedly resistant to that possibility of GWM issues in the past, since I'm reasonably certain they replaced the GWM once already... but in light of the obvious goof of not connecting external 12V to update the module, maybe I should start being more critical of the service work on the vehicle. That being said, maybe the fact that the GWM was replaced and presumably would have required programming at that time makes it even more likely they botched an update? To be clear, most of the hybrid components are on a discrete, low temp cooling loop. If needed, the AC is used via a plate heat exchanger to provide additional cooling. The electric motor on the other hand is cooled via the trans fluid. From everything we've seen thus far, the transmission overheats before the emotor does. You're the first case I've heard of anything in regards to the emotor temp. Given the long list of codes previously seen, it sounds more like a GWM issue.
The IPMA programming killing the battery is due to incompetence on the tech that did the programming. He didn't use a proper power source on the 12v system. About the only thing that tells us is that they're not using the brightest lightbulb on your truck.
Maybe I will order a mongoose after all. I've seen some screenshots that imply that FDRS will show me a history of actions taken when they have been hooked up to my vehicle. Can I get this data if I buy a 2 day license even without a tool/just by entering my VIN?
