This isn’t my “home” dealership so not sure what they would have done with it. It is amazing that Ford touts all dealerships have trained/certified technicians and the vehicles have all this diagnostic capability yet they and Ford engineers can’t seem to fix it.
I think this is more "won't" than "can't".

Or maybe reluctant, is a better term? Reluctant to replace certain components that can be costly, relatively speaking.

Again, these aren't Space Shuttle complex. It's a finite number of components that make up each subsystem. And this many years in, they shouldn't be so intimidating to the technician. At least not one that's a professional of his craft.

If it gives you any hope, my truck had a similar issue over a 9 month period and the last thing they tried to fix it was the high voltage harness and I have been problem free for a few weeks now.

Fix = replace?
Or an actual repair to the harness itself?

The frustration is that this is the third “major” failure so far. The last was the starter assembly. That took 6 weeks to fix. The started by saying a loose cable. Once this is all said and done, not sure I’ll be keeping this truck.

there was a period about a month ago + that I was thinking the same, then I saw what the trade-in or resale value would be and quickly changed my mind. About that same time, Ford gave me a free ESP to cover the next couple years so that definitely helped

But would you be categorizing the 3 times the truck needed attention as "major failures" if the issues were addressed promptly and you felt like the technicians were very knowledgeable about the issues?

I admit that 3 visits to the dealership for warranty claims is still 3 visits. But if it was a prompt in/out, it would be no more than an inconvenience.

I have 3.5 years with my Powerboost.
And my company has just less than 4 years with another. 3 Powerboost in total. And only one of them has ever even seen the dealership. It was my current 2022 Powerboost for a sheared axle bolt. Fortunately by the time mine had sheared, the head scratching had already passed and the ridiculous delays in parts acquisition had been remedied too.

Just attempting some encouragement to hang on to what might be a truck that will give you many more miles of service. But I understand the current scepticism.

I will say that originally they thought it was DC converter and that is what they said is not warranty. I am hoping that now that they have gone into the HVB harness stuff, they will change their tune.
Also a unique hybrid component. Someone needs to put this in front of a judge to bitchslap ford. Unique hybrid component isn't ambiguous. As are HV cables.

The only part of the harness i have doubts about is the Y area where the traction motor's feed Ys to the DCACA (PPOB Inverter). That's just not common practice in the industry for HV cables. Even the AC compressor isn't Y'd.

The HV cables have multiple insulation layers and a foil shield. Not really something you can just Y tap

Exactly!
If it was an "electrified" Vehicle, would Ford have equipped it with the DC/DC converter?

That's an EV/Hybrid component.

When the truck won’t run at all, I consider it a major failure…

Here's the HV Y that taps the traction motor power wire for the DCACA inverter. These are shielded multi-insulated wires so not sure how it's done internally. I bought others to tear apart, main harness is more $ than I wanted to burn just to tear it apart

Right next to everyone's favorite part, the exhaust heat scavenger

Thanks, they replaced Dc/DC converter, then harness from HVB to the converter. Now I am told they are saying they have to replace a high voltage harness inside the high voltage battery.

Geez, the parts bashing is just nuts. They'll find that defective part if it's the last thing they do :ROFLMAO:

Well at least they ARE doing more than head scratching for days at a time. They are actually inve$ting in repairing it. Far better than letting it sit in the parking lot and telling the customer "we are waiting to hear from Ford".
