Has insurance made a decision yet?

Sucks to lose your ride over idiots and I hope you get decent value if they decide to total it.
"Idiots" is the key word here. I watch videos of the same idiots on you tube and it looks like they are driving as if they are the only ones on the roads. It is a shame they are allowed back on the roads.

Nope. We are now 18 days post-accident and no decision has been made. And my rental coverage is limited to 30 days. Yay me.

Dash cam went in as soon as I got the truck home.
What I want to know is....Where the Fu*k was he going?
Glad you're OK.
This is why riding my Harley isn't as much fun as it used to be. Too many A$$holes.

after being on this forum, (btw, ive missed you guys. been super busy with work) i saw people mention dash cams etc...long story short, i may not have the BEST dash cam but i like the fit and finish and ease of installation. i have the fitcamX for the F150.

anyway, sucks your truck got into a wreck. glad youre safe. insurance sucks but hopefully you get it squared away. not sure if its totaled though.
also, if you think it is, get some comps incase insurance tries to screw you over.

Sadly even driving with minimum insurance can be a major headache for the normal driver. My state VA has one of the higher minimums and that is only $50K bodily and $20k property.

Here you go buddy, heres $20k for your $70k truck. You have to make sure your uninsured and underinsured personal insurance is robust to guard against these idiots.
btw, not only that, doesnt our stupid state still allow you to pony up $500 to drive WITHOUT insurance?!

i know they are trying to get rid of it i believe. its the dumbest shit in the world in my opinion.
i swear at one time i heard if you dont have insurance in canada you cant get a drivers license. why cant they enact something like that here.
Most of the world is very strict on licensing requirements with multiple levels of licenses and other complications. It's really a privilege. Here in the US everyone sees it as a right and they gonna drive insurance or not.

Sadly that is true for many things here in the US. Thats why we are one of the most dangerous countries in the free world not at war to live in. So many unnecessary lives end up being the freest people in the graveyard.

Got to love those. Always given the easy way or the hard way, and well the easy way doesn't apply to them. Saw a court case where they were referring to themselves in the 3rd person, something about the state's name for them vs their own name for them. Makes your head hurt trying to make sense of illogical ramblings.

Ya gotta laugh at the ignorant sovereign citizen movement.

Look I don't want to pay taxes any more than anyone else, but the belief that you can live in this country and have all the benefits and protections of the constitution when you want them and then ignore any parts of the law that you don't agree with is the "Cafeteria approach" to participation in the legal system. Wow! I will have some of people sacrificing their lives for me in war. I would love the police to come help me if I am being attacked, Fire department, yes please. But don't ask me to get a drivers license or pay taxes, or serve on a jury, or have any responsibility. Don't get me wrong there is always a way to protest injustices. At least Martin Luther King Jr. was willing to go to jail to protest (and demonstrate ) unjust laws. This lady blows my mind. Just like the young kids who think they are on the same level as MLK because they showed up and scream, assault people who are trying to do their jobs and then get livid when they are arrested. We have lost the peaceful in peaceful protest cause an escalated confrontational attitude gets more press than peaceful protest.

On another note all those who want people thrown in jail for driving without insurance should consider a few sad facts. Michigan has some of if not the highest insurance premiums in the country. The history of this is they 1st made a law that required all to have insurance. It did nothing but drive up legally costs of arresting, and prosecuting and in some situations jailing these people.

So who hasn't got insurance. People who can't afford it or at least "feel" they can't afford it. The bill the legal system to enforce this doesn't come out of the poorer persons pockets. Society pays for all that through taxes at a premium to the middle class or wealthier citizens.

In Michigan so much of that happened that they decided to go to a no fault insurance program. It was supposed to lower costs to society cause they wouldn't have to tie up the courts with lawsuits and prosecutions etc. Also running jails isn't cheap and so jailing these people gets expensive. Let alone take a single mother who has kids who we will support and feed while a single parent is in jail. Others might loose their houses and then guess who will pay for that for them. Yep we will. They won't be able to get a job or to the job cause they can't drive so they will get financial support for that.

In Michigan we design laws so the poor person who can't afford to buy insurance pays for one month of insurance each year when registration comes around. Usually at some fly by night cut rate company. Then the rest of us pay twice as much for insurance since we have to pay for our cars to get fixed wither we were at fault or the other person. We had 5 accidents in 1 year in my household. None of them were caused by us. (we live in an area with really aggressive drivers who have no clue what right of way is) Insurance sky rocketed for us despite all police reports showing that we were not at fault. I don't have an answer but when I leave Michigan (and I will lest I get smitten first) I am moving somewhere where I can pay for my own coverage and will still have a healthy clause in there to cover me for the uninsured accident.

Most of the world is very strict on licensing requirements with multiple levels of licenses and other complications. It's really a privilege. Here in the US everyone sees it as a right and they gonna drive insurance or not.
Actually as I see it. Much of Europe and Asia are tough but they also use a strict licensing as a deterrent for drivers in general and to promote mass transit. Their attitude is if you wanna pollute our overcrowded cities then we will make you pay for it. Think driving is rough here go to India, Indonesia, most of Africa and South America and you will see some crazy driving and little or no regulation.

The question is does this disprove Ben Franklin's statement that, " those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. " ?

Texas has a law that require drivers to carry minimum coverage. But there is no enforcement provision for that law other than issuance of a citation. Fun fact: the driver that caused my accident had several outstanding tickets. He obviously gives ZERO fu$%s about tickets. So getting another one for no insurance means nothing to him, he ain't gonna pay that one either.

For me: I'm getting bent over by my OWN insurance carrier (and their fun has yet to begin, I can not wait for renewal time where my rates will skyrocket bc of a not-at-fault claim) simply because homeboy decided he would rather use his money on something other than paying for minimum coverage on his vehicle. And spare me the "maybe he can't afford it" crap. If you can afford gas to drive a car, you can afford to pay for the legally-required liability insurance.

BTW: 24 days post-accident, and STILL no decision from my carrier about whether to repair or total.

i really am sorry about the truck. And all the insurance headache. I agree just giving citation does little. My comments were just posted to say how no matter what they do to solve the problem of stupid people they still find a way to stick it to the average guys who wanna play by the rules. Then in Michigan we get more rules and the most expensive insurance and still these guys just go on without insurance or pay for it for one month while they are registering the vehicle. I pay 12 months and my rates go up when they hit me. Maybe they arent so stupid. ?

Sorry you don't have a decision yet. Waiting on that kind of thing is brutal.

I was about to come comment about how weird it was that you edited in a spongebob character to the video for comedic/dramatic effect, but then saw your comment.... wild.

I need a dash cam.
