I replaced my stock muffler for a magnaflow 14” muffler (#11229) but it’s a little too loud for my wife so I’m back at square one. I’ve been looking at borla’s heavy duty truck muffler (#400500) and was wondering if anyone had done this yet? I’m looking for a bump over stock with no drone, just looking for opinions.

Look at the Borla "Touring" muffler. It sounds nice. Borla says it has no drone.

There are unlimited mgf's and youtube internet pages describing all their mufflers in detail so the buyer will know exactly what to buy.

OEM are trying to sell stuff. Not really worth going there. They are all the best, none drone, etc.

Real world experience via forums is the best resourse for no bull shit, honest opinions.

And most videos sound like they were recorded with a 1985 playtell recorder.

All videos sound is not live and therefore not a true rep. I have visited 10-15 sites that breakdown the physical designs of each of their models including noise levels at ignition and acceleration, tone and drone, HP change, etc.

I have a borla tourning cat-back dual rear exit system and I can attest to it being the best I’ve ever had. It was way more expensive than the MBRP I had on my last truck but well worth. No drone, no issues.

Like the Borla cat back dual S type with black chrome tips on mine. Had Magnaflo duals on previous 2010 F150 and prefer Borla. No drone. Great warranty. Bump up in tone but not aggressive. Install fit perfectly. No issues. I do have the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 not a V8 this time but still sounds great. Wife also likes the Borla S. ATAK gets your and everybody else attention. Touring sounds a bit louder than stock but why bother to me. Borla has videos to compare sound.

Bump to see if anyone else has swapped their muffler out. I did a muffler delete last week but it droned too much for me on the highway. Now I just want to swap out my muffler with something that is a bit louder when you get on it, but no drone while cruising. Was looking at Borla or Magnaflow but wasn't sure which one would suit my needs.

I ended up going with the borla #400500. It still has a little drone at cruising speed but it doesn’t bother me at all. It sounds pretty good and is definitely better than stock, I wish I would’ve gone with it the first time
