my muffler shop didn't complain to me about it, so assume it wasn't an issue

Do you have a picture you can share of the finished product?

I thought the problem with trying to reuse the factor tail pipe is the almost immediate curve it takes leaving the muffler. Pic is from another memeber/post.

I used an 18" Magnaflow on my Silverado and that has a good sound with no drone. If your looking to do a full cat-back consider the Corsa Sport system.

Man that sounds absolutely perfect, I don’t have a huge budget but would like to hear a little bit more of that V8!!
same with me, just the Borla pro xs 3” in 3” out. Stock muffler came off, welding in a 10” piece of 3 inch pipe from the tailpipe and welded in the muffler. My muffler was $160 Canadian and my shop charged me $130 because Welcome to Canada. Probably could’ve found it cheaper but what the hell.

Should my tailpipe be shaking like this ? this is at idle, truck is warm. I got the Borla pro xs installed, I get a very loud built up humming sound (it’s hard to describe) in the cab at very low rpm or when lightly getting up to speed (seems to kick in at 3rd gear or held in a lower gear) . Definitely doesn’t seem like a normal sound for a muffler. As soon as I get on the gas a little harder it returns to its normal quiet rumble. The noise is way louder than what the exhaust sound is even when accelerating through the gears very hard. The two tails pipe hangers are in tack, but the original muffler hanger is gone, no hangers from where the muffler welds in to the tailpipe all the way up to the resonator which is a pretty long run. Figured I’d ask before I start sound deadening my interior back wall and floor.

Yeah it appears that they eliminated a couple hangers that hold up the exhaust that should definitely be added back.

Think it’s just the one that can be seen hanging in the photo. Where the old muffler and tailpipe attached is still in place, just a 10” pipe was added in front of it. Guess I’ll have to add one in on the pipe coming from the resonator

Is the one below welded to the pipe but you just can't see it from the angle of the photo? A decent exhaust shop should be able to weld a hanger onto the pipe in front of the muffler so you can use the existing frame hanger and insulator.

Yes that hanger was left connected. Not sure why they didn’t weld a rod on and use the factory hanger, now it’s a pretty long run to the res. I wonder if that’s why I’m getting these weird humming and drone noises

First, your Muffler shop did you dirty, If anything should be adding more Hangers, not taking any away. Did you get this all fixed up? and are you still liking the Borla Pro-XS or are you regretting it. I am so on the fence, just like everyone on this particular thread, looking for Full Stainless, Much deeper tone, but not loud in anywayu and definitly don't want any Drone. So torn, I think this is the route to go and possible add a 3" in/out Vibrant Ultra quiet Resonator, but my first point of importance is the muffler, tone, Drone and looks. Already have the Tip in hand that will go it, just trying to decide which way to go. Thanks in advance.

Start up/exterior. Sounds better in person. Honestly could have went with a bit quieter muffler and been happy, but I'm more of a magnaflow guy than flowmaster anyways.

You have had this for a good while now, are you still happy with the Borla Pro-XS or are you regretting any of it? yea, I haven't had the time to bring it in to get another hanger welded in to that factory location so I can't confirm if the sound I was hearing is related to that. It seems to have quieted down a bit, maybe the muffler is broken in or I am just used to it. I don't regret installing the pro XS, I wouldn't want anything that's louder however as I enjoy having a quiet ride on the highway. when in eco mode or cruising on the highway you can hardly hear the exhaust with the radio off, I did install sound deadening material and closed cell foam on the back wall and back floor (although I really didn't notice it quiet any exhaust noise). Cold starts are pretty rumbly, definitely a deep sounding exhaust. had the opportunity to drive behind my tuck in another vehicle and you can hear it pretty good but its not obnoxious like other mufflers, sounded good.

Thanks for the detailed reply, and you have stock Resonator correct?
