When I got my PB I really wanted the folding shifter but it came with the column shifter. At first I wanted to change it out but then I drove one with the console shifter and was amazed at how much flimsier it felt compared to the solid feel of the column shifter. Plus the loss of storage space was significant. If mine didn't already have it I would definitely be on board with this.My Lariat is the first truck that I ever had that didn't have a column shift. I've got a foot in both camps. I kind of like the center console shifter, and especially during those times when I am using the gear selector buttons on the shifter to lock out gears. But on the other hand, you give up a lot of prime real estate on the console that could be used for ultra-convenient storage.
I've read where several people have reported that their console shifter felt flimsy. I guess my truck is one of the lucky ones, or I'm one of the lucky ones because mine feels like any other console shifter. Of course, this kind of thing is also very subjective. But I also believe that contrary to logic, not all trucks come off an assembly line the same - some trucks are trouble free while others are nothing but headaches. I can't help but think that that factor plays into it some, thus me thinks I was lucky getting a "good" truck (with a shifter that doesn't "feel flimsy").I drove one with the console shifter and was amazed at how much flimsier it felt compared to the solid feel of the column shifter. Yeah, that IS a big one! When I was putting together my list of "wants" to order my truck, I really went back and forth on the column vs. console shifter, specifically for that very reason!Plus the loss of storage space was significant.

I will add to an earlier statement that I made regarding locking out gears, which right or wrong, I do a fair amount of: when utilizing that feature, it feels more "natural" using the console shifter for that. But once again, very subjective....
I'm in for this, only pending pricing info.
I created an account on your website, logged-in, added vehicle with VIN, filled-out the Product Request Form for this item providing all info including VIN, stating immediate interest to purchase, willingness to beta test, and requesting notification when complete.
When I hit the "Submit" button all fields went blank with no indication of missing info but got nothing indicating the submittal was accepted (?) on your website or via my Gmail.
Any way to confirm receipt of my Product Request Form for this item?

I love the column shifter ! Unless your driving a manual transmission, I always prefer the column shifter. My xl has this upgrade from the factory.
My thought exactlyWonder how they plan on mounting the actual shifter to the column since console shifter trucks don’t have the mounting points. Maybe a clamp system?
