My understanding is the max tow axle ups the GVW from 7100 to 7400. I ordered it.

The OP is interested in a PB. PB is already at 7350.

Already has the 373 locker, already has an extra spring and upgraded radiator.

Max tow gets a PB, slightly larger brakes and a problematic axle.

There is the bumper upgrade and an increase in towing capacity you'll never use, because you'll be out of payload long before then.

All that might be worth it on other drive trains but for PB?

It does raise the listed payload capacity?
Depends on the truck and its options.
really need to look at the data with the VIN number in Ford tow calculator. Only way to truly assess the real numbers

It was available on my 25 order. I initially had it on there and removed it after reading about the issues with the axle. Not really needed in my case anyways

Interesting that Ford shows my maximum tongue load as 982 lbs

I must have saved the links in my other computer ... There were some Ford docs that had the weights of some options listed. They were incomplete and at least somewhat out of date for me but were for Gen 14. As I recall, there were two different docs that were needed, to piece together an expected payload, for an ordered truck.

Anyone remember what they are called?

Could it be? All that work we did, tailoring orders to avoid wasting any payload and they just dumped 50 lbs. on us, that it turns out we didn't even need?

I could'da had the tailgate step.

For 25s, makes up for them forcing 20" wheels on Lariats I suppose.

Perhaps thinking of the attached? Option weights start on page 27/54.

In the meantime, took a look at the 2025 Tow Guides.
Thanks for posting. At least mention of the Max Tow Package is revived in this one.

I am wondering what the "Max Tow" option for $395 really adds (screenshot below)?
The description from Ford is not very conclusive, and I haven't found a clear answer either using the search function of the forum.

Does it increase the GVWR/payload and/or towing capacity rating, especially for the powerboost?
Any other reason to pay or not pay for it?

It adds a self destructing axle and reduced payload.

Note the change to include a 150lb. driver AND passenger.
Actually, I'm not spending time on the details for 2025, my interest is minimally vicarious. Glad to have all of this 'towing configuration angst' behind me.

When ordering my 2022 Lariat and studying things like that e-Sourcebook attached above I was just hoping to equal the 1729# payload of my 2005 XLT. The Lariat came-in at 1848#, equipped with all the 'luxury' options I wanted, all is good for my purposes, I love my now-unicorn Lariat SuperCab, and I'm done with truck buying for a long time. (y) ?

I've had no failures with my Max Tow Axle to date (knock-on-wood), just patiently waiting for the 'final remedy' whenever that finally comes. ?:wink:
