I agree with your skepticism, however I still want thisYou can't make the motor work "more". There's an amp limitation on the BECM with a T class fuse at 150 amps. Furthermore the motor is cooled by transmission fluid that it happily imparts said heat into the trans. As for life the battery -- I'd almost pay to hear ford say they're not replacing the 'poor choice of a battery' for making it do more hybrid'n. Please oh please let them make that statement.
The only drawback to this would be exercising the battery more during summer increases the amount of energy the AC has to send into cooling down the batt. Typically doesn't really show up until you're at the extremes of the temps, but do understand if the AC in the PB seems to randomly just stop cooling, it's likely it's just being diverted to the battery.
