Where can I find a detailed procedure for replacing it?
I attached a few pages of the service manual showing that you only need to remove the pan and a couple of other items to get the auxiliary pump out.

Thank you! Seems pretty straight forward! Do I have to disconnect the hood battery, aux battery or the HVB to do this? Where can I find the torque rating for all the bolts?

I would always disconnect both batteries negative cables if I was monkeying around.

I don't think dropping the transmission pan would require shutting down the HV side of things. But don't be messing with the orange stuff either. ?

I attached the pages related to reversing the removal procedure. They include bolt torque values.

When swapping transfer cases I left the truck fully energized. Most systems only have issues on POST (power on self test) when the start button is pushed. One of the few systems you certainly want to power down for is ABS and power steering for instance. If you were dropping the trans I'd suggest a power down due to proximity to the starter which has a hefty always-live B+ attached to it.

I will admit that my Powerboost hasn't been perfect. But the small issues were taken care of quickly by the dealer through the warranty process. I did get my first low voltage warning on a very cold morning last week. I immediately ordered a Bluetooth battery monitor and will install a new 12 volt auxiliary/main battery if needed, instead of dealing with the OEM version again.

I said that to say this, my powerboost has been the most useful, comfortable and highly optioned vehicle I've ever owned. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I will drive it through the warranty period and continue to do so until it shows signs of needing expensive repairs. I've still got 70k miles left on the warranty, so it's not going anywhere for a while.
Hi if you dont mind who did you get your warranty from? terms and total cost and did you get it when your truck was brand new

I have 86k miles and have never had an issue. I have done plenty TO my truck, but never because it required repairs to continue to function. I think that the PB is well built, but has a ton of dongles built in that hurt reliability without adding capability. Some can be easily excised, others less so. The exhaust heat exchanger and the belt starter/generator are the only two big PB specific items, and the belt starter generator is more of an overweight idler pulley than a reliability gremlin.

Indeed, most of the failure prone items on a PB are shared with every other F150. An automatic transmission is a point of failure. The locking hubs are a a point of failure. EGR, auto cylinder deactivation, PCV, the ludicrous plastic transmission pan, the rear Max Tow bolts that Snakebitten fixed using $15 of COTS parts.....the Powerboost is not the unreliable part of Powerboost F150.

A series hybrid with hub motors fixes a ton of these issues, because a bunch of parts simply vanish. To that point, I think that the smart play right now is to put off any vehicle purchase that isn't absolutely necessary while the automakers figure this out. The fanciest truck that you can buy today will look like a Model T in 10 years.

I promise, I won't be bashful about criticism, should the need arise but so far, nuisance type electrical gremlins early on (fixed completely, by resetting the BMS) and one recall, scheduled to be dealt with next month, about the cats and PCM, that is offering no symptoms that I can discern.

Its an amazing vehicle and I love it. I've even topped 30 mpg a few times, on reg. 87 fuel and that just blows my mind.

24 pb platinum here about 8k miles so far. Came from a 2019 RAM hemi and so far love the pb. Easily 10mpg better in mild weather than the ram and just as comfortable if not more (my mpg plummets below 25 degrees). My biggest complaint is the f150 has much worse ride and handling.

this thread making me feel like much less of a moron for buying the longer warranty (first time ive ever done this on any brand) which sounds like i may need.

I love my 22 Powerboost, but I have to agree with CR. Reliability wise, mine has sucked.

Everything has been warranty.

I’ve had 14 different recalls.

I’ve owned it for 30 months. It’s been in the shop 30-40 days. Mostly waiting for parts…

Exhaust heat exchanger
2 cats cleaned
2 cats replaced
12V battery
Belt integrated starter generator

We can love the truck- and I do…but we can also admit Ford really blew the execution on this one…

I paid $74k

Trade in is $35k. 53k miles, less than 3 years old.

I should have just bought the Coyote!
Have a 23 Lariat Powerboost with about 20k. I’ve towed a 6k box trailer about 15k of it over Donner pass from CA to central NV. I work this truck hard.

The notorious SSN message when attempting to start the truck bit me 3 times but that is all I can really complain about. I understand the earlier years had more software/hardware bugs.

Wish you would have had better luck!

2021 PB with ~34k miles and still have two years left at 0% interest. Other than the recall on the max tow axle bolts and some occasional low battery warnings after sitting for a week, it has been a great truck.

I had a few software issues with my 23 Plat. PB ( bought pre-owned with 15k miles on it) at the get go- but since then it’s been perfect. Great mileage for a full sized truck and plenty of power. Yes- Maybe the execution by Ford could be better as others have mentioned- but I can tell you that’s its damn nice to sit in a warm cabin with the seat heaters on while it’s a chilly 16 degrees outside- and not burn a drop of gas in 35 minutes. The hybrid engine turned on for 2 minutes 20 seconds to charge the battery then another >30 minutes of fuel free idling comfort. (Yes I actually timed it for something to do while I wait for my kids)

Yep. I didn't purchase my first Powerboost for the purpose of it being the most amazing office on wheels that it is. But it IS one more reason I won't be without that feature again.

I'm considering creating an FFF. A Fix Ford Fund with a basket of equities to go along with the longer warranty.
