Got it back from the dealer last week. After the second failure the techs replaced the throttle body. Truck went info limp mode on the freeway with the tech driving. The TB replacement was not the root cause and they needed help. Dealer techs opened up an engineering ticket with Ford for...
On October 2nd the dashboard lit up with multiple messages. It’s a 23 Lariat 3.5 Hybrid with 24,147mi.
What happened? Powertrain fault, Electrical Fault, Service Engine, wrench and motor icons. Resulting in a very rough idle and barely enough power to make 15 mph. Restart attempted didn’t...
..the saga continues..
Turns out the replacement throttle body was not the root cause. On the test drive the fault occurred again and the tech had to crawl back to the dealership last Monday. Since then the shop foreman and lead techs have been crawling over the rig not able to identify a...
Last Thursday a electronic failure threw the truck into limp mode. It is limp, it would barely reach 20 mph.
Three faults flashed.. collision/Powertrain/Service Engine plus the wrench and engine indicators. It idled very rough like it was on 3 cylinders and would not change drive modes...
Have a 23 Lariat Powerboost with about 20k. I’ve towed a 6k box trailer about 15k of it over Donner pass from CA to central NV. I work this truck hard.
The notorious SSN message when attempting to start the truck bit me 3 times but that is all I can really complain about. I understand the...
Last few days I've seen this icon come on and go off intermittently. Finally able to capture a picture yesterday.
Background image leads me to think it's traction control related.
I combed through the manual including the specific 'lane assist' and 'traction control' details of the manual. I...
Annoying that a 70k truck cowl warps in the sun. Someone could make a killing with a aftermarket product that would maintain the factory shape.
What are the odds that I can get it replaced due to warpage that creates gaps for debris to fill in
Ford covered all the diagnostic and repair charges in my case. If you sense the dealer is constantly scratching his head ? about powerboost concerns find another dealership with technicians trained on the platform.
Fuel logs over the last year. At 6k I ditched the Hankook junk for Michelin, other than towing the average mileage is getting better over time. No complaints, my last F-150 got 11 no matter how you drove it ;)
Out west often mountain passes impact fuel consumption. Live near the coast in CA, own a hide out in Western Nevada. Make the trip 3 or 4 times a year.
Did your route take you over any mountain passes over 7500'?
I envy your mileage.. Last summer in 100 degree temps I towed a 6500 lb...
No further occurrences since dealer techs patched components in "TSB-23-2317" last October.
Attached the repair order notes for everyone to read verbatim. It may help others get rigs fixed..
For the record I had experienced this issue 5 times in 9 months. Am relieved no re-occurrence since...
My mileage experience towing...
Own a 22' Outdoors RV bumper pull trailer, basically a box on wheels (GVWR 7400). Have a weigh distributing hitch.
So far I've been to my property in Nevada twice - 800 mile round trips from CA not far from the Pacific Ocean. I leave sea level and travel...
Lariat was in for the specific SSN recall yesterday. Computer techs performed the microcode updates per the bulletin. More than one module was flashed/updated.
Also received power up 6.1.0 while it was in the shop.
Time will tell if this software fix addressed the fault. I'll post here...
Like the abbreviation, SSN! Like many here I've had this occur four times since January. My local Service Advisor called and informed me that Ford has a fix, to bring it in. Fingers Crossed.
During a recent trip in Eastern Nevada I experienced two separate gravel punctures with Hancook Dynapro stock tires. Junk
Purchased Michelin Defender LT/X's that have a good track record in Nevada. Enjoying the quieter ride, better handling and improved gas mileage.
..and I thought you'd mention the stock Hancook Dynapro's..
Two of these tires, on two different outings punctured by Nevada off asphalt roads. Both failed on day trips away from camp. Spare tire has about 150 gravel miles on it..
Bought a set of Michelin's with just over 6k on the odometer...
You may be on to something. When the fob is in my pocket and I am in close proximity I hear the relays click.
Another quirk, grab a garden hose with the key in your pocket. When the hose steam contacts outside front door handles it triggers the power ?,
