Leather steering wheel swap ... buttons

I'm thinking I may wanna do the leather steering wheel swap in my stx. Well my question is If I find a wheel that either doesn't have buttons in it or the one that has the 2 buttons on left side which mine only has the one for the ping pong lane assist or whatever. Lol. Is it possible to swap for my buttons and if so how hard is it. I tried searching but didn't see specifically what i was looking for.

I swapped in a non heated wheel from an XLT. It did have the wrong buttons so I swapped in my buttons and wiring harness from the urethane wheel mine came with. It’s very easy! Main thing is to disconnect the battery when taking off the airbag! I got my wheel used here on the forum.

I need to get one but so far I haven't been able to convince the wife the truck needs this. Lol.

Lol very true. But ive already done that to many times this year .
You should've seen her face when the stubby antenna came in yesterday. Wasn't very happy with me

Bought mine from another member, used XLT and swapped it over. Very simple install, under 30 minutes.

So when going from XL swap to XLT, you should also change the harness too right?

I bought an XLT wheel with a Raptor bezel. I’m thinking in theory, when switching the buttons, the wiring harness from the XL should be swapped into the new wheel as well to keep the functionality of the buttons.

Yes! I moved my wiring harness with my buttons to the new wheel! Very easy to do!

I used this wheel for my STX and swapped the buttons, hardest part is getting the airbag clips to release.

I used an impact driver to remove mine, but a breaker bar with an extension and the correct sized socket will also work.

Thank you for the prompt replies. Two additional questions...

1. Where is the best place get get a new OEM leather steering wheel for a '24? Did a quick google search and saw one on Amazon for $229.99 but states it only fits 21-23 F-150 models. Same for one I found at a dealership. I assume they haven't updated their compatibility chart as i believe they are the same but wanted to triple check.

2. I see a few options for a "heated leather" steering wheel. My STX obviously didn't come with that option, however, is the steering wheel fit still plug and play? I know you can add the heated function through forscan but i just want to make sure there wont be an additional wire of plug hanging out behind my steering wheel.
