# keys 24 f150?

1st post on this forum, was on FTE for years...
I've had my New 24 3.5 powerbeast since Oct of last year.
Great truck with lots of power and Very quite electric mode with
the speaker not working. Should i be able to add a 3rd key?
I wasn't able to with the max # keys displayed. I went to the
dealer purchased from and said that there were 2 previous
keys that were not deleted. They wanted $275 to even look at it!
I think the keys could be deleted, wondering if im correct?

I believe you should be able to add keys 3 and 4. On my 24, I bought 2 spares on eBay (but I bought Expedition keys, duh) and it programmed them. But they didn't work because they weren't truck keys. I got 2 new, correct keys, but Now I have to delete all four and reprogram all 4. Because there's no way to delete individuals.

Do you know how to do that procedure?
Sounds like a trip to a dealer, or mobile locksmith?

Your first post doesn't make it clear if the truck was bought new. A 24 model you've owned since October sounds like maybe it was.

If that's the case, the dealer, and/or Ford Motor Co, should fix it at no cost to you. Typically new F150s come with two keys. If more are floating around out there programmed to a new vehicle the dealer needs to find them, or more likely, delete all the keys and give you the two that come with the purchase.

If the keys can be deleted by the owner, I'm sure instructions on how would be somewhere in the same area of the manual as adding keys.

If, however, you bought it used, especially from a non-ford dealer, then the $275 may be a fair price to fix it. Locksmiths charge a pretty penny to program these keys. You might save a little over the dealer, but I bet it wouldn't be a lot.

Thanks for the reply, It was brand New with less than 100 miles on it.
I asked the service writer at the dealership purchased at. He didn't
know and asked a tech and they didn't know...

They owe you two keys, and the ability to add up to two more. (I think it's two.) If I can find it in the service manual, I'll post the procedure for adding and/ or deleting keys.
