If you accelerate hard in 4A, it should feel noticeably different than 2H even if there is no wheel spin. Do you feel any difference between 2H and 4A if you turn the steering wheel to full lock and try to drive forward on dry pavement. Before running the PMI, 2H and 4H felt the same at full lock, now it is very obvious that I'm in 4H, but I do have mechanical locking 4H on my truck.
I don’t feel anything even at full lock. Really doesn’t feel any different at all.

You cant PMI a module not for the vin. If he attempted to PMI the TCCM to his vin it would fail the Part number verification and even by some Grace of the programming gods it did get through it woul dthen load his calibration and strategy which is wrong for the application he is attempting to install
FDRS is very limited it can only program the modules the vehicle says it has. Its not very good for adding things the vehicle didnt have.
I have done it on my truck by manually entering the VIN of the truck I ordered parts for, downloading the TCCM PMI, hitting run TCCM PMI, and only then connecting my J2534 to my OBD2 port. Using this method I was able to configure my TCCM for a 402A Tremor even though my truck is a 302A XLT and I didn't have any part number verification issues using this method.

If you go driving spirited, especially in turns and laying into the throttle, 4A exhibits remarkably different chassis dynamics. Not subtle.

But if you are just putzing around, there's really not much that it's affording you.

Find some wet weather!
That's where it shines.

I did that today but ford has hammered down on this. It doesnt work for every module. Most of the time FOrd is doing a second vin verification.

What do I know though. Not much

For those of you with lariats and above when you have it in 4A and there is slippage etc. do you get a message on the cluster that says something like 4x4 temporarily engaged? I got that today when I was goosing it on the dirt roads.

Did you get squared away? I got my parts from a 21 lariat which is the only year with lockable hubs.

Everything is in. Jesse helped with programming the TCCM. So all seems correct and just can’t tell if the fronts are hooking up but I only have dirt roads to play with. Might just have to wait until we get our first snow fall to know for sure.

Can you find a steep incline somewhere, that if you are in 2WD and you attempt to stop on the incline and then resume upwards, you will feel the rear tires slip?

Then switch to 4A and resume again. You should clearly experience the sudden prowess that 4A offers in a tire slip scenario.

We have a few. And it’s supposed to rain on Saturday so that’s when I’ll see what happens. ?

If your testing indicates that your 4A or 4H isn't working properly, use Forscan to monitor the 4WD_CLTCH_OUT, % pid in the TCCM. According to the service manual, you should see a 97% duty cycle on a normal TOD transfer case when in 4H. In 4A the duty cycle will vary greatly, but under moderate acceleration I would expect to see 10-20%; WOT acceleration will also vary a lot, but you should see the duty cycle spike past 50%

I’ve not been able to tell honestly. I’m thinking I’ll just jack it up and put it on stands just to see if the fronts are turning to satisfy myself. Might try tomorrow. And I’ll report.

Jack up the front left wheel via the frame under the driver's seat. Enable 4h and see if it locks in the wheel.

Same thing for me with regards to when I had the Lariat controller with the Raptor case. 4H with the clutch only, allows for some slip between wheels, to the point you can literally drive around in 4H on pavement with minimal binding. Not good to do that, but that’s how it works.

4H locking drags tires and hops when turning on pavement, as mentioned.

Side note, my best time at the track was with 4A, 10.93, not sure if the lariat case would have worked at the power level or not.
