How to stop jelly beans from getting in this vent?

I've had a rolling sound in my truck since around Easter. Seriously driving me nuts trying to figure out where it was coming from. I even took apart the center console to see if a coin had slipped down inside. Finally today I found a green jelly bean ~2 feet into this vent under the passenger seat. Used an endoscope duct taped to some tubing and a shop vac to retrieve it.

But...how would you suggest preventing this in the future? I'm thinking of buying some screen door fabric and taping it over the opening. Or maybe stuffing some roof exhaust vent mesh into it.
