Snake,So a Powerboost has a Max Tow rear axle even if you don't have Max Tow package?
Man I have seen a lot of conflicting information regarding that infamous 3/4" floating axle and the Powerboost.
And if memory serves correct, the literature said “upgraded bumper” not hitch.Snake,
To this day I still don’t know what Max Tow offered other than the upgraded hitch. At the time of ordering, I read everything I could about Max Tow and that was all I could see that was different. To answer your question, I have no idea other than what I read at the time.
So we have Apples to Apples an exact same truck, except you have a shorter wheelbase and no 'stated' Max Tow package.Three things to consider….can you, would you and should you? I have a fully loaded 2022 Platinum Powerboost minus Max Tow and BAP. Since I have CCD/Scales, FX4 wasn’t an option. Best I could find out about Max Tow when ordering and after calling 3 dealerships who didn’t know squat, the only thing I could find that Max Tow offered was an upgraded hitch. The powerboost already came with everything else. Even if Max Tow offered more, I doubt I’d ever need it. Being fully loaded my payload is 1,375 lbs which is more than enough to tow all my toys. Short distances, I don’t mind exceeding the limit a bit. Even if I could tow a 9000lb camper, I wouldn’t. To get most places I prefer to go means I have to drive through west Texas (I live in DFW) and the cross winds are brutal. Towing a heavy wind sail is not something I’d feel comfortable doing in a 1/2 ton truck of any make. Fortunately, I have a motorhome to tow the toys when traveling far. If you’ve never experienced the west Texas/panhandle winds, they blow semi’s and 5th wheels towed by 1 ton duellies over with ease. I’ve seen it many times on trips to Colorado.
oh 1 more thing, if memory serves right, dealers were adding “Tow Package” to all their trucks. I think it was $1,150 option that literally gave you nothing you didn’t already have on the Platinum Powerboost.

Kinda was my point but I wasn’t very clear. Just like you said, increase tow #s yet reduce payload. On all the higher trim trucks we are limited by payload. It makes no sense to me why its even offered on higher trim trucks. It appears to me the net gain is actually a loss.So we have Apples to Apples an exact same truck, except you have a shorter wheelbase and no 'stated' Max Tow package.
I do have Max Tow and a longer wheelbase and I have a lower limit than you? Literally makes no sense. "Yah canI go ahead and get the Max Tow Package so I can put less in my truck? Thanks."
Almost seems like some of these are dart board results....
100% I took the same approach and got the cool stuff I "needed" but left out the cool stuff I "wanted" only because I wanted to keep payload reasonable. I partially achieved this by sticking with XLT rather than going up to Lariat or a Platty since leather is heavy. Does the job every time including pulling a 29' TT with approx. 7900# gross weight (though I definitely securely store items closer to the axle).Yeah, physics class enters the chat. But that do give us the choice to have many options that owners have come to desire or to have no options with big payload or a balance of both. I chose#3 with my XLT 302a package with lots of options and medium payload of 1553#. I used that as my cutoff between what I "need" and what I could live without. I don't need my truck lifting my tailgate for me, etc.

Please let us know. I am considering replacing some with Aluminum.I should weigh my FX4 skid plates now that they're all off my truck. I bet they're at least 100lbs total.
My KR, 157" has an even 1500# payload. From what I'm seeing a nicely configured KR/Plat is in the mid 1400's, somebody with more money than sense can get one into the 1000's, and lightly loaded features could get into the 1600's
157"? Dunno. Such a unicorn (which I covet) it's hard to call.
Just a data point.probably somewhere around 1600 for a 4x4 would be considered pretty good.
It doesn’t quite work that way. The PB has a heavy duty frame and high GVWR, but the highest payload configurations are not PB’s. The GVWR of #7350 is limited by Ford resulting in the infamous “gimped” payload sticker for PB’s. It could be tires, brakes, marketing lane management, but it’s a limiting factor for sure with higher PB trim levels.I'm curious how much higher this rating would be if had just the 3.5EB. That battery on the PB has to be heavy.
