I think you were pretty lucky. A little more towards center and it's damaged electronics. A little deeper in and it's add a shutter assy to the parts list.

Had a 5-52 take 5 geese climbing out of low level, one punched through the bottom of the wing and out the top. We called them semi-solid foreign objects.

Now if was an endangered duck species well then...

That shutter assembly possibility is what makes me think "let the insurance deal with it." Then again, if the parts aren't available it could be totalled

I would find a way to "rig" it until I hit something bigger.

That should be 100% covered by your comprehensive insurance, at least State Farm would. And no ding on your driving record. My family hint three deer last year so I have experience. 2013 RAV4 totaled, my wife’s 2023 Tucson was run into by a deer when she went to get my daughter from the Rav crash, and my son’s 2023 Impresa a hit one this last fall.

Man that sucks. Be interesting to see the cost of repairing it. Doesn’t look all that bad but with the price of everything, who knows. Not sure what your deductible is but maybe it’s not as bad as it looks.

I just barely missed hitting a turkey yesterday. That would have probably resulted in a $10,000+ repair bill. Once had a partridge fly into my side mirror doing 80mph, took the mirror right off. Glad it didn't make it to the windshield.

I had a seagull hit my Suzuki Samurai on the passenger side A pillar doing 50 mph back in the day. No damage to the Samurai but scared the crap out of the passengers.

Tried to get actual on-truck images. They're trying to show a limited and then claim it's a black version, which it's not. If I had to guess, they took the limited one, cloned it, but the limited has slip-on chrome elements to the design. That's what it appears like anyway. They wouldn't provide any on-truck images for consideration. All of the sellers shipping this from the same warehouse are chinese based.

Don't file an insurance claim on it, they will just total your truck .... Seems like now even a little damage to a truck, they get totaled now... Good luck!
