I agree, and I have learned a lot from these forums. Looks like the F150 will be a whole new owner experience, lots to learn!
Not only do you see the worst of the worst on the forums, some of these things you would never notice if you didn’t read about it on a forum. So there’s that aspect to account for as well

Most of the new guys come to complain about something. It'd be much different if everyone satisfied came and posted. Though it would get tiring of hearing "nothing to report"

Yes, lots of complaining and also seeking solutions because almost everyone knows what being gaslighted is like. Dealers and parts supply issues haven’t been kind to consumers… I have had more success when I educate myself first.

On a positive note, my dealer has been really responsive and easy to work with so far! That’s not a trivial thing these days.

I have 13.6k and 11 months on my 22XLT PB. I have over 1MM miles on various Hondas and Audis and the owner satisfaction might be the highest on this vehicle above all others. (although I did keep an A6 under a blanket for a couple of years) It's just so damned comfortable to drive and it does literally everything, like a swiss knife. You ever park a vehicle and start to walk away from it...then turn around and give it another look? Yep. I really did not expect to have this kind of experience with a FORD but I think the smartest thing that they did was to ditch all of their crappy cars and focus on the big stuff.

Keep your order and get the damn truck.

I've a 22 PB Platinum and have had zero issues either mechanically or software/electronically. I was lucky enough to get one with no deletions (ordered by another, cancelled). That would be my only qualm if I were buying today. As others have said, folks post issues much more than positives. I browse this forum primary to see what issues I don't have ?. Enjoy your new ride!

I'd be careful about the early praise of Fords presence on these forums. I have an "active case history" from a ticket they opened last April that they've done absolutely nothing with, even after being called out on it. They're here for PR purposes.
I appreciate the advice. I wasn't "praising" Ford and I'm not drinking the Kool-aid yet. But the case was just opened today and you have to start somewhere. I'll reserve doubt in the early going.

Time will tell.

It certainly is refreshing to hear all the positive comments. It makes undertaking such a big investment a little easier :)

Get the dang Ford if it’s the truck that turns you on! I’ve owned Hondas, Toyotas, Subarus… every one of them had something that made my heart sink despite their “legendary” reliability relative to the domestics.

Also, my partner couldn’t care less about cars but is in love with the F150 now that we own one. That says something.

I hope that they get my issues sorted next week and a lot of happy road tripping awaits. All I ask is for decent service… I hope someone is listening ?

If it helps, we have have a 2022 Platinum PB and a 2022 Raptor. Both are terrific and have not experienced either of the issues you mention.

My only complaint (like Blackout) was the ridiculous chip hold issue we experienced in summer/fall 2022.

I was all Toyota for my last umteen vehicles, but didn't want a Tundra when I decided on full size. I would take a V8 Tundra for reliability's sake but that's way too boring and I wanted new. Aside from new Tundras being fuuuug leee, I also read up on the issues owners are experiencing and because of that, didn't even go drive one. The front end looks like a carp/catfish, and the F150 is light years ahead on interior features. Not to mention Toyota cant even get their 5 and 6 speed transmissions to shift correctly, even on platforms that they've been using for a decade. I've had a 4Runner and several Tacomas and they needed to be tuned to drive halfway decent. I wouldn't trust a 10 speed roll out from them for a while.

And yeah GM interior is (finally) on par with Ford, but the GM 5.3's still burn oil, after how many years, and I didn't want a 6.2L.
Why wouldn’t you want the 6.2? That engine is a beast and gets similar mpg to the 5.3.

I really think it is how you approach the issues, having had 6 new or CPO cars over the last decade, I can tell you that none of them have been without problems. It really just comes down to how you feel about your cars. Personally, I am a passionate car owner, I tend to love my cars or want to get rid of them. Either way I get tired of them after a couple of years (generally). My case in point here is that approaching it with the mindset that we are working out the bugs instead of a mindset of OMG I just spent 80K on a truck it should be perfect.

It is kind of funny how much the industry has changed over the past 3 decades or so. I remember a time when people were paying $300+k for a car that would die just driving down the road, and the owners loved it (Rolls Royce, Bentley), the cars had "character" or "personality".

Just kind of summing up what I am trying to say here, is it really is all about how you approach it. I try to approach it from a standpoint of if it has b**bs or wheels, it is likely to give you problems. Does it suck to have a shop queen, yes it does. Most aren't though. If I love my vehicle, I am more likely to put up with it's crap.

Besides my list below I had a 2003? Ford Focus PZEV that spun a bearing at 23K, I have always been religious about oil changes (so much so that the mechanic said, if it didn't have all the metal shavings in the motor I would have guessed it had 3000 miles on it).

At any rate, a quick run down of my 6 previous cars, their problems, and if I still loved them.

2011 (2011) VW Jetta TDI (new) - Well appointed, handled well, amazing fuel mileage (50MPG was not uncommon). Was at the dealership monthly because it was blowing headlight control modules, and the Satellite radio never worked. Owned ~2 years, and really was sick of the car when I got rid of it.

2010 (2013) Mercedes ML350 Diesel (cpo) - Comfortable, horrible gas mileage, loved the car, but it became too expensive to maintain. Would not own again due to costs.

2014 (2016) Ford F-150 Screw XLT (cpo) - I loved this truck, had the 5.0 coyote, tossed a flowmaster cat back on it (which I had to smuggle into CA), no real issues to speak of, just oil changes and fun, got rid of it because I was sick of the licensing fees for a truck in ca (was 660 or so back in 2018)

2016 (2018) Ford Explorer Limited (cpo) - Also liked this one a lot, nick named "The Animal" due to it's color combination, camel interior and some other animal brown on the outside. It had enough pep, and got decent fuel mileage, no real issues to speak of, it just ran, and ran well.

2020 (2020) Ford Explorer ST (New) - This was a lot of fun, I had a lot of problems with this one, most of which were never solved because they were ghostly. Like it would completely lose turbos if I was sitting in traffic in the morning after I got on the freeway, it would work fine again with a power cycle, dealer could never get it to repeat, the chimes would choose different speakers randomly, and a laundry list of other issues. Decided to get rid of it because I fell in love with a PB.

2022 (2023) Ford F-150 Screw Platinum (cpo) - Only one issue that I haven't tried to have resolved yet, which is that lane centering assist doesn't work (thus blue cruise). On a side note, The registration for this truck in CA is $977 (with personalized plates which is an extra $40 a year)

I'm not a fan of cylinder deactivation (especially GM's) and enjoying that motor/keeping 8 cylinders firing means about 10 mpg, or so my boss' brother who has one says.

It is a beast though!

My first F150 is now in production (F150 4x4 PF Platinum 701A BAP), and I have never been so excited about a new car or truck. Unfortunately I’ve spent much of my time recently skimming the forum threads and trying to learn more about this truck. Two issues that really concern me are the “pedal vibration” and the “rough idle” problems that many have posted about.

I get it, usually forums over represent the problems people are experiencing, but some of these threads make it sound like these two problems are inevitable.. I can’t imagine getting stuck with an $80k+ vehicle that doesn’t provide a smooth and comfortable ride.

Can anyone talk me off the ledge, please!
Turn around step off the ledge your this close and start planning to ENJOY your new F150 Power Boost.

Owned a 21 302a XLT PB that a 19 Platinum was traded in for. With in 1 hour of driving a 14 Gen 302a XLT PB knew the correct decision had been made. Not that the Platinum had issues it did not. Just that the 14 Gen PB felt planted to the pavement and it was a 3.5 hr drive home in sleet, snow, rain so got the bad weather driving under the belt on the first drive.

Make sure to set the driving mode to Sport Mode on your test drive and go make yourself smile. A PB will do that with little or no effort.

Drove the 21 trouble free for a year with no pedal vibration. Driving another 22 XLT 302a 2.7 payload package truck now. Not for dislike or problems but to help a dealer friend solve his problem with a customer that wanted and had a need for F150 PB.

My 2 quirks were the backup beeper, and the as my spouse referred to it ( it sounds like our electric lawn mower when your coming into our driveway.)
3rd quick was with the State of Wisconsin charging Plug in hybrid vehicle registration Fees to a NON plug in hybrid vehicle, this one popped the balloon.

Only have 2 recommendations and that one to install front and rear splash guards to lower wheel road spray onto the power running boards and rear electrical connectors under the bed behind the tires, 2nd is wheel well liners to clean up the rear wheel area which will also enhance the look of the BAP package.

Again go enjoy your new F150 have had 5 new F150's since 2016 and each one has kept me coming back for another newer one.

With the new, longer PRB’s which rear wheel splash guards do you recommend? Are there any that will fit?
