My S-Type did the same. 100% cylinder deactivation.

Maybe I had an earlier version or a defective unit. However, the annoying exhaust sound was ultimately less annoying than regularly dealing with a dead battery.
I bet!

Like others said, it’s the cylinder deactivation for sure. I hear it with my MBRP but it’s not that distracting.
I have the MBRP as well and like you, it's not that bad with C-D.

I can hear CD with my Corsa Sport cat back, before the tire exit. Nothing drone worthy but can definitely notice it now. I’d like a tune to make it go away at some point. I do like sport mode driving though.

Waiting for my Livernois Tuner to ship. Heard that cylinder deactivation with my Borla ATAK side exit and did not like it to say the least. Bought the tuner that same day. I do a lot of highway miles. Can't have that going on.

Let me know how that goes. Thinking of going that route as well.

Installed the tune a few hours ago.

WORTH THE MONEY! Power and torque are greatly improved. But forget that for now. The transmission fixes alone make it worth it. Rows through gears like butter, doesn't hang on any one gear, simple to install. No more CD, no more skip shift. No more struggles getting to high gears. 8th gear at 35mph at ~1k rpm is lovely. It always puts me in a gear that will net me the lowest rpm. Going 45mph puts me in 9th or 10th, idr. I'm on e85 at the moment, so the power is higher than 93 until I go back to 93, but it's still worth it.

Oh and the rpms are now 7300 (or 7200?). Going to change my oil Saturday because idk what that dealer put in there (Hyundai dealer, but the oil seemed fresh), but if I'm climbing to 7300 rpm, I need to be sure it's the right oil & filter.

The exhaust is louder now for sure. It shakes the windows on the front of my house while cold idling, then it vibrates the windows when it's warm idling. When it's fully warm, the idle is like 400-500rpm. Idk if that's what it was before, but it's nice.

Traction off, 4wd launch/1st gear then 2wd the rest of the way; the truck is much quicker than before according to my butt dyno. Feels like it squats too.

Sounds like something I really need to look into. The transmission shifting has been a sore spot for me well since I bought the truck off the lot new, well before I got the exhaust, and the exhaust is what made me really notice the CD and how much I really hate it now. The truck is awesome but the shifting and CD is really something I can do without. Constantly switching drive modes while driving to not have to deal with the crappy shifting and CD gets old fast. I only use 93 with the occasional tank of e85 and drive 90% highway miles.

I have a little bit of a story here, so grab a drink and take a seat.

Vehicle: 23 SCrew FX4 5.0 with 3.31

Back in January, I decided to do exhaust on my new truck. I waited until well after the break in period (around 2k miles) to pull the trigger. I knew a borla cat-back would be the best way forward, but my arrogance got the best of me. “I can find a good exhaust shop to do just as good!”, said the ignorant new 5.0 owner. I had a shop install a y-pipe, removing the stock muffler, but keeping the stock resonator. “Throw it away, it’s trash now!”, he continued.

The custom set up droned so bad and caused so much pressure in my ears, I had to change it.

Fast forward to this past weekend when I installed my new borla S-Type cat-back exhaust. The first day was awesome and everything was fixed. The top end sounded amazing - crisp, aggressive sound and very quiet on the low end.

Then, after a day or two, the pressure on my ears feeling returned. When in eco mode or lower than ~1800-1100 RPMs, there’s a strong resonance pressure inside the cab. It feels similar to when you open one window on the Highway - that “wop wop wop wop wop” feeling. It’s not loud, it simply makes it feel like you want to pop your ears. After 30 minutes, it gives you a headache. I’ve had multiple people ride/drive the truck to confirm it’s not just me.

I called borla to troubleshoot. They assured me that’s not supposed to happen with their products. I have an oil change this Saturday and the Borla rep wants me to have the techs look over the installation, just to be sure.

I know the Touring is also an option; however, I’m not convinced that would remove the issue. This isn’t a “loudness” issue, but a ‘pressure’ issue. I also don’t have the original exhaust anymore (because I’m an idiot). If I could go back, I would’ve never messed with it to begin with.

So, what do you all think? What are some questions I can ask back to Borla? Should I give up and try to find a used stock exhaust?

Where should I go from here?
Did you ever get this issue resolved?

To Others - same CD issues with Borla Tour?
Thanks
