Dyson V15 that we keep in the garage (and bring with us on trips!) with two batteries and all the attachments. I've never used anything else on either of our current vehicles.

Are you talking about the dust buster shaped one? I have a shark but I to have the Ryobi system and the batteries would be easier than waiting on it to recharge once dead. I need it to fit under back seat.
My Ryobi dust buster type vacuum is a good general purpose tool for my professional handyman work as well as for keeping the truck tidy. And, it fits nicely behind the seats in my truck. Those 18V+ batteries are awesome! High capacity and they hold a charge a looong time.

Which one did you buy? I am also in the Ryobi sphere and would like to read up on the one you are talking about. I am also looking heavy at the dewalt one Tony listed.
Like a lot of manufacturers, Ryobi updates their products and I have had several previous versions of their dustbuster type units. The one I got for my new F150 is their newest offering: it has the fitting that hooks up to the standard small vacuum (1.25") hose which really makes it useful

Anyone have a good handheld, battery powered, vacuum they use in the truck in between using a "real" vacuum? If you read the reviews they all suck, err well they don't that well, haha.
I don't mind dragging the shop vac out after washing the truck, but looking for something easier in between washes. Anyone have a good handheld, looking for something that will help with sand mostly.
This is what you want. I have been down the road of Amazon and sent about 15 back because they had no power.

this one is so good I bought 1 for my cars and 1 for the RV. It’s amazing and for only $100 it’s a steal!

I have been using one of these around my house and vehicles for years and love it. Great for nabbing spiders too.

Looks like it's sold out but we bought this for our camper and the thing I like about this is it has the option for a rolling brush. Which catches our Collies dog fur pretty good. Battery lasts forever.

I've got a 5 gal $60 walmart special, 120v shopvac (basically the size of a 5 gal bucket w/ motor on top). Not sure if the 400w inverter can power it but the PBs can. One issue with batt powered vacs is the lack of a hose so you're really limited even on a quick vac onceover. It's convenient in that the cord is ~ 9' and the hose / cord and attachment is a one-hand carry.

Given that multiple brands offer 400w inverters onboard, someone should make a decent vac to take advantage of it. A hose and small brush attachment makes it easy to get the dash / vents / doors. A lot can still be accomplished in a short 5 minute vac session if it's got the right attachment / hose at hand.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions, now I have the opposite problem of trying to figure out which one of these to move forward with!! But that's a good problem to have.

If you're on the Milwaukee platform, look at the first generation 18v. Think its model 0880-20, 2 gallon. I've put it through hell on two renovations and has good battery life for a vacuum. I'd recommend something with a hose, you'll have greater access over using a handheld.

Add a Home Depot Special Buy of the Day bookmark to your browser. They come up for sale seemly once a week.
This is what I've got, and I love it. I don't even use the old plug in Shop Vac anymore. Sometimes I'll grab this instead of our Dyson for stuff in the house just for the convenience factor.

Just fyi, the David vacuum is Oreck. David Oreck the founder of both companies sold Oreck to private equity about 10ish years ago and private equity bankrupted his company; therefor, he started David and makes all the same great vacuums. The only difference is he uses his first name instead of his last name on the vacuums. It is NOT battery operated; however, comes with a lot of very small attachments to get in small crevices and AC vents.

I have a Fuel 24V cordless vacuum that's worth every $ I spent on it.

I have a Dewalt 20V/120V hybrid, which is quite convenient. I wouldn't leave it in the truck because it takes too much space, but it is great for cleanup compared to hauling out something bigger.
