I can attest to the Toyota trickery, lol. When we first started dating my wife had a 2006 Corolla with all of 120hp. That thing was deceptively snappy off the line before immediately falling on its face. Trying to merge onto the highway was a scary affair though. It was a reliable car and easy to work on but I hated driving it.
My 05 Avalon felt extremely quick at all phases with 280hp. It was probably the fastest car I'd ever owned until this truck.

If my truck was quicker off the line, it would blow everything I've ever driven, including some Corvettes out of the water.

PB cheats hardcore w/ that e-motor's 220ftlbs at idle.
Indeed.

I forgot to specifically check for turbo lag when I test drove one.

Starting to slap my forehead, I then recalled the time that I did open the throttle at a light, at the salesman's urging.

uhm, wow. Just, wow.

So smooth that I didn't notice.

OTOH, test driving a maverick 2.0 ecoboost, when I opened it up after straightening the vehicle on the road (didn't want surprises!), and was already lifting my foot due to the speed I'd reached before the turbo kicked in. (so we ordered a hybrid, which finally arrived last weeks after being held hostage for three weeks, in town at the rail yard, before delivery for yet another quality hold [YAQH?])

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
The 2.7's torque maxing out at lower rpm helps off the line but only if you are really sensitive to that kind of thing. Both have more than enough grunt to spin the rear wheels. If you want more power, get the 5.0 and slap on a supercharger.

When I got my truck in 21, I drove both but didn't go with the 5.0 for the engine, I went with the spec of the truck. Wife likes heated seats so I needed the 302A.

Its done everything I've asked it to do. Given that my towing is pretty light, under 6k, the 2.7 would have been a ok choice for me with nicer MPG as well But I have no complaints about the 5.0. Its a sweet powertrain.

Some will say the 2.7's proven reliability is more desirable than the relative newness of the latest 5.0 features. All I know is that after 40k miles, I'm still happy with my choice and so is the wife.

There is a direct correlation between the number of cylinders in his truck to the number of inches on his ..............breaker bar. :muscle:

It's all in the throttle and gear ratios. I ASSURE you that a Banks Pedal Monster and 3.73 rear axle will change your mind. They completely numb the 5.0L responsiveness from the factory, likely to squeak out a few more MPG. You need to wake it up a bit.
Dakar 09 hit the nail on the head PERFECTLY.

The Pedal Monster and 3.73 ratios make ALL the difference. They are pretty much neutered fromt he factory in regards to pedal response.
